I explore Surah 68 of the Koran, including its strange conception of the End times, comparing it to the great tribulation described in the Bible. I also explain how the Muslim version of Jesus (Isa) resembles the anti-Christ described in Revelation.
You mean the “Qur’an”? The name is as confused as the content.
I guess it’s because Arabic is not written in the Latin Alphabet so arabic words are transliterated phonetically and that creates confusion??
>>You mean the Quran? The name is as confused as the content.
Both are correct. Arabic can only be transliterated into a script that is used for a handful of languages. Depending on how someone might speak it, the spelling changes.
Seems a bit harsh to say he’s an anti-christ figure, the interpretation I would offer is that he needs a lot of help from the Mahdi (for Shi’ites the hidden 12th imam) who collaborates with him to overcome the Islamic version of anti-christ in the end times.
It isn’t totally at variance with our Christian beliefs except that we have no teaching to suggest any helper of the stature of the Mahdi. The two witnesses of Revelation might be our Christian equivalent although not of any stature not afforded by their act of witness itself.
There is some potential for a win-win if let’s say some figure arises who passes for the Mahdi, then Jesus returns and says, okay, we’re now into the Kingdom, you people are going to need to restructure your theology to downgrade the prophet’s role and eliminate the anti-Christian and anti-Semitic portions. It would be a radical restructuring but you could see how there could be a process of incorporating what was left of Islam into Christianity (otherwise how could they enter a kingdom overseen by Jesus which is as you say in their theology?).
It certainly would be a bizarre end time if Jesus returned to bring God’s favour to Islam. About all they have going for them is the ban on alcohol, everything else tends to be inferior or just plain wrong. No obvious Mahdi candidates are present today, I sometimes wondered in the Obama years if he might try to present himself as such, but if he dabbled in that, it never reached the public.
What is obviously quite possible is that Jesus will return without any public declaration of any Mahdi and that would really make it quite likely that Islamic public opinion would instantly trend to rejection of Jesus as some anti-Christ from their point of view. Otherwise they would have to scramble to find a Mahdi or abandon even the eschatology of their scripture. As to the Islamic bad guy figure, it would not take much work for them to cast Trump or Netanyahu in that role. They might be quite open to a Jesus+Mahdi vs Trump+Netanyahu end time scenario. I can’t see that actually happening so they will be waiting a long time.
Everything surrounding Islam is confused.
Reading the Koran is confusing because the 114 chapters are out of order.
When Muhammad was in Mecca he preached exclusively and did not terrorize the population.
The Muslims, including Muhammad, were getting beaten up, ridiculed, and Muhammad was going to be killed by his tribe, after his Uncle Talib died and Muhammad lost his tribal protection.
He made a run for it with his lifelong friend Abu Bakr to Medina, about 200 miles north.
Muhammad and his small amount of followers, about 150, after 13 years, in Mecca ended up in Medina.
When he got to Medina he continued to preach but started killing those who wouldn't convert and opposed Islam.
It only took about ten more years of violence to knuckle under all of the Arabian peninsula.
So in the Koran, instead of the more peaceful Mecca chapters being the first chapters and the violent and intolerant Medina chapters coming later, they are mixed up, and out of order in the Koran making it hard to follow. -Tom
“...resembles the anti-Christ described in Revelation.”
The anti-Christ is never mentioned in Revelation.
Rev 13 language refers to the Beast, which many associate as the AntiChrist.
So why is that surprising for a “religion” based on a fairy tale? So many are duped all because of culture, peer pressure, family ties, and so many other phony inducements. It is just a matter of time before they all see that the “truth shall set you free,”
“Rev 13 language refers to the Beast, which many associate as the AntiChrist.”
The Beast is the Roman government.
It is the cult of Satan
It is the cult of Satan
Yup, who is the author of confusion.
