Vlad really had a way of making a point to those who invaded his land.
An associated story is that Viennas bakers heard the Turks digging and helped counter mine to stop them. After the Turks retreat, they baked a celebratory roll in the shape of a crescent, thus the croissant was born.
Nice picture of the Wallachian prince Vlad Dracula.
The same Moorish attack on the same city today would not be stopped.
There is a group that wants to put a statue of John Sobieski in Vienna. The mayor of Vienna has refused afraid it will offend the Muzzies. The statue is being displayed in a Polish city waiting to be transported to Vienna.

Perhaps the most important battle nobody outside Poland knows about. The brilliant Red Army Marshall Mikhail Tukhachevsky led one of the Red Armies. Stalin was leading an army in Poland too.

I am beginning to think that the Battle of Warsaw was as important as the Battle of Tours and the Seige of Vienna

Leelee Sobieski
