I don’t know a whole lot about the Catholic Church in Ireland, but perhaps it is more concerned with promoting a liberal social agenda than with attending to the spiritual needs of its members—a major reason why mainline Protestant churches are struggling in the US.
Incidentally, Catholicism is thriving and growing in some Third World countries such as Congo-Kinshasa, Uganda and Nigeria.
The idea that Catholicism is thriving in the turd world is bunkum. Consider one recent example; Brazil, which has hundreds of years of Catholic influence, under Jorge Bergoglio the Anti-Christ tried to legitimize the inclusion of Pachamama the pagan idol into the Holy Mass, because the “Catholic” Amazonian Indians wanted it done. And places like black Haiti, which has hundreds of years of Catholic influence, too, still practices voodoo and Santeria. God knows what abominations the black Africans in supposedly “Catholic” parishes continue to practice.
...I'll comment on it anyway.
