Some great observations in this thread. I wonder how much it has to do with the time crunch many experience. Church is happens at on of the last uninterrupted parts of the week. I bet golf is in decline for the same reason. We are being run ragged. That said I also wonder if we were all chill if church attendence would rise I doubt it
If there weren’t a lot of Poles in Ireland, there would be even fewer Catholics left there.
They fought the English for 800 years to be able to attend mass freely. But in the end, English have won and just 100 years later the Irish are no longer Catholic. I will never again visit Ireland, the land of my father’s family.
Ireland today is not the Ireland of 30, 40 years ago.
It has transformed into just another militantly secular socialist Euro-state.
My brother’s Irish expat inlaws claim that the whole place shot down the tubes morally the day Ireland joined the E.U.
Church is happens at on of the last uninterrupted parts of the week.
Same thing happened in the Netherlands years ago when they passed the first gay marriage legalization. Institutionalized sin demoralizes nations.
I wonder if the presence of a less-than-Catholic Pope has anything to do with it?
