RE: Would you fly in a jet flown by someone who simply declared themselves a pilot?

That would have been a very apt analogy if blogging were as difficult as training to fly a plane or training to become a surgeon.

However, doing research can be done by any literate person who can think logically and objectively and write, unlike flying a plane or doing surgery. This is especially true if the blogger were a good college graduate, has experience writing, and maybe has a day job that is unrelated to writing.

If flying a plane were like doing research, then the writers at CNN and MSNBC would be crashing their planes everytime.

Give me a better analogy.

RE: Take the science of “Global Warming” for an example. I used to work for the US Department of Justice Bureau of Statistics. It all depends on the agenda of the writer. Just sayin...

Not necessarily. It will also depend on how well researched the content is and how it conforms to the facts.

I am not defending the author, however, If you want to critique the author, please give your critique on the author’s research itself, not simply because he or she was not employed by some media company.

RE: Wants to flood the country with Tech workers from India after an agreement with the Indian government that they let in more Mormon missionaries.

Well, to be fair, that isn’t just a “Mormon” trait.

Protestant and Catholic Politicians have been known to espouse the same policies.

Also, just because you disagree with Lee on one policy does not mean that he isn’t solid on other policies.

At one time in my life i used the information like this to prove The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was wrong.

They make a good case, and I think they really believe they teaching the truth.

I thought you might want to see some of the people praising the author’s new book

Notice who signed the second complement and decide if you trust the rest of her teachings.

The Twible adapts the Old Testament to the light-hearted quipping familiar in everyday Tweets.” —The Guardian, UK

“The Twible is the most entertaining version of my dad’s book I’ve read in the last two millennia!” —Jesus Christ†

“Twible is the best example I have ever seen of the reverence of irreverence. Only those who love deeply and securely can bring this kind of humor to the telling of the family’s stories. Don’t read it, unless you are prepared to fall in love with them again.” —Phyllis Tickle, author of The Divine Hours and The Great Emergence

“The church is running as fast as it can away from from the weird stuff. It ain’t part of the sales pitch.”

This has always been SOP among the mishies as presenting “the milk before the meat”.

Star Kolob, Nephites & Lamanites, and that final battle on Hill Cumorah that left no artifacts aren’t selling well.

Bodycam vids of creepy Temple ceremonies don’t help, either.

Yet LDS scholars and apologists appear to disagree with Hale. For instance, former BYU professor Robert Millet stated,

The historicity of the Book of Mormon record is crucial. We cannot exercise faith in that which is untrue, nor can “doctrinal fiction’”have normative value in our lives. Too often the undergirding assumption of those who cast doubt on the historicity of the Book of Mormon, in whole or in part, is a denial of the supernatural and a refusal to admit of revelation and predictive prophecy (Selected Writings of Robert L. Millet: Gospel Scholars Series, p. 93).

The one exception is with the priesthood/temple ban on those with African heritage, as more than one out of three Millennials believe that this doctrine was inspired by God;

Mormon authority millet says that denial of the historicity of the book of Mormon is a denial of the supernatural.

No it isn’t. It’s just a denial of the book of Mormon.

He is a fine scholar, person and has improved mankind by his presence. Not everyone has made even close to his contribution. Wonderful example of a disciple of Jesus Christ!

We have some friends that are LDS.

In listening to them, it sounds more like the organization is morphing into classic “Southern Baptist” based on the language used to describe recent (and many) changes.

I would note Christian churches all over the land, no matter the version served up, are bleeding membership in greater numbers each year. Young folks especially want nothing to do with “organized religion”.

YMMV

RE: Did you know the Garden of Eden is in Missouri?

Now that’s new to me. I was also told that after Jesus’ resurrection, he actually re-appeared in what we now know as the USA and preached to the native Americans.
