You evidently don’t understand what I wrote. You seem to have an overly censorious attitude toward human frailty.
A burst of bad language isn’t exactly admirable but under certain circumstances I can understand it. I can’t speak for the Lord, but as a matter of common sense I can’t imagine that a merciful God would consign someone to hell for swearing when the hammer hits the thumb.
No “truth of God’s Word” is being twisted in such instances.
It’s simply a release of steam when confronting physical or emotional pain.
To me, real blasphemy starts with making promises in the Lord’s name — for example, the oaths taken by witnesses — and then breaking them. And invoking the Lord’s name to sanction evil practices — homosexuality above all — is blasphemy of the foulest sort. Mayor Buttigieg seems to be a particularly bad offender.
I hope you can see the distinctions I’m trying to make.
I know where you come regarding swearing, but it is a practice that can be overcome through discipline and self-control, especially the phrase OMG.
Satan wants us to condemn GOD via our mouths, ears, and eyes. I’m not being censorious, just telling the truth.
For a Christian saying “Jesus Christ” when hurt cañ actually be a prayer to Him to help. It can be a sincere request to the Lord who walks beside them. For a person who does not walk with the Lord, it probably is blasphemy. A quick prayer for a sudden need or a longer prayer for less urgent matters are both accepted by a merciful and present God.
