Nova Scotia Forces Catholic Hospital to Kill Patients

The silent takeover avoids legal challenges

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (ChurchMilitant.com) - Nova Scotia is quietly forcing a Catholic hospital in the province to help patients kill themselves.

Formerly run by the Sisters of St. Martha, St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, is being told by the province that it must now offer patients access to physician-assisted suicide (PAS). The Catholic hospital was formerly exempt from Canada's pro-death legislation as per a 1996 agreement when it signed over control of its hospital to the province.

The agreement ensuring the hospital's Catholic identity and values would be honored was negated last month by a single email from Tim Guest, the Health Authority's vice-president of health services.

"Assessments and the provision of (medical assistance in dying) will be available in a section of the St. Martha's Regional Hospital complex, at the Antigonish Health and Wellness Centre," wrote Guest.

The sisters' community has yet to respond to the government's imposition of PAS. Guest's email inexplicably adds that the new guidelines uphold the original agreement in 1996 that promises to respect the sisters' moral nature of its mission.

Tim Guest is free to come down and kill the patients himself then.

I love how the government has suddenly commandeered all the hospitals to kowtow to its wishes. This is NOT what a free society does - this is what a evil totalitarian society does and that’s how slavery started!

Close the hospital and tell the state to take care of the patients.

There can be no compromise on some issues.

Imagine if the nazis had just taken over the country and wanted to impose similar rules.

Canada is now chained by the fetters of cradle to grave socialism. No, canada has not been a free country since the tenure of Prime Minister Pierre Eliot Trudeau, who led Canada to a devolution of the Canadian People’s Freedom.

This devolution continues to the point where old folks are being quietly ushered to premature graves. And it will get a lot worse as now the idiot Liberal politicians begin confiscating duly registered firearms such as the AR-15.

At one time Canada and the UK, as part of western civilization, upheld the values of religious freedom and liberty as we did in the US.

Not anymore.
