I want the bumper sticker concession on this one :)
Soon the earth will have turned on its axis one last time before everything changes. One last sunrise. One last night.
“If you do not believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and that He died for your sins and rose again you will die in your sins”
This is not entirely correct. Jesus is a son of God who became the Christ, just as we all have the potential to do.
And He died that we all may live another day, to move on to perfect ourselves through His example.
And we will be judged by our words and deeds. Believing in Christ helps, but all words and deeds are recorded by the Father.
Reduce it to four words? Wow, I’d be impressed.
Yawn. “Soon the earth will have turned on its axis one last time before everything changes.” Ok. I will believe in God and then wait for the end of the world. Anything else?
Let’s get back to reality: Life is tough. We need to pray daily and ask the Lord for guidance every day. He is very happy to be active in our lives. End of the world? Not yet, thankfully.
Are there Cliff notes?
Hate to burst your bubble, but “the rapture” is not biblically based. It was conjured up in the 1,800’s by some protestant.
We do not know the time of the coming of Christ. We cannot.
You are not correct and this is a false Gospel. Christianity states Jesus Christ is true God, the second Person of the Trinity who became true man and died in our place. We cannot become God and never could. Such is a lie from the pit of hell. Through faith in Jesus we can live with our Creator forever as His children but we cannot become God period.
The replies on this thread emphasize how late the hour is. Scoffers abound but we were warned this would happen.
Rapture. Well perhaps but I don’t see it in scripture. The early saints thought the end would come soon. It did but not how they thought it would, it came by Rome killing them.
There have been many more people in the world who have never heard of Christ than have and haven’t accepted him. Am I supposed to believe they are damned to Hell because of no fault of their own? As a matter of fact the silly idea espoused by so many Christians who think themselves better than those who don’t believe is one sided. If we really believed that all those that have not heard the word we would be out on the streets, in every doorway trying to spread the word. If you really believe non believers are going to be punished then you should too because it is your fault they haven’t heard the word.
I don’t know the answer to all these things but I do know Christ is the living Son of God and only through the name Jesus Christ can we have any hope in being saved. We aren’t saved because we did one or more good things, we are saved by the Grace of Jesus Christ if we follow Him. The problem, there are so many people who say how to follow Him and they all have a different way.
Some day Christ will return to earth. Perhaps before that he will send an emissary to help us prepare to meet Him, to get the world ready for Him. Many people believe the Pope is that emissary, while I have great respect for the Catholic Church I do not believe he is that emissary. Francis in my opinion is evil for allowing homosexuality and child abuse to run rampant in the church.
Read the Bible, pray to God and watch for the emissary.
I can reduce it to four letters:
tl;dr
No ears will be tickled with this article
That's exactly what's going on. Ears itch for somber, end-times, and/or fear and dread, fire and brimstone teachings. If they didn't, the temple of religious merchandise (esp. end-times related) wouldn't be the brisk business that it is. The statement I quoted is a subtle tactic to engender trust, but the obvious reality check is that humans tend to be all ears when it comes to gossip and bad reports in general.
Most people close their ears to bad news.
Not when it's about the other guy.
"Narrow is the way" means that the way is exclusive and focused.
It's narrow because it is the simple way, the "just" way, whereas complicated doctrinal teachings are all the rage. Nobody wants simple in plain sight, hence few find the way out and up.
adverb: just
1.
exactly."that's just what I need"
synonyms: exactly, precisely, absolutely, completely, totally, entirely, perfectly, utterly, wholly, thoroughly, altogether, in every way, in every respect, in all respects, quite; informaldown to the ground, to a T, bang on, dead; informal on the money
(What's on the money: In God We Trust, and Liberty).
If the Patriarchs had been bogged down by a swamp of expert religious teachings and endless warnings, they wouldn't have made it two feet out the tent door, much less to the Moon (symbolic of the Kingdom of David).
Matthew 7
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it:
Going, up! It's an... obelisk, representing the father (Patriarch) of the nation:
Matthew 16
1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Jonas: "dove"; Columbia (CM): "dove"; Columbia (USA): "dove"
We've had liftoff. From Swamp City (the District of Columbia) already, so there's no excuse.
Matthew 7
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Thorns and thistles, oh nos:
We live in a darkened, cloak-covered world and it can be exceedingly difficult to tell truth from fiction, and reality from lies, but Christians must endure these attacks and learn to discern these wolves and the traps they set.
The wolves are the ones who can't find America in Bible prophecy. The typical scary reasoning that follows is that America must not exist, destined for the scrapheap of history (insert horrible demise devoured-by-a-wild-beast scenario here), but no worries, they have a convoluted Rapture theory in order to go up. With so many chapters and verses listed in parenthesis, it must be true!
Grapes and figs:
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
The Can-Do People can and do. Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.
Okay well Jesus was/is a great teacher, but not of the common NEA union variety, so really it boils down to his simple message:
Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Watch what the simple, whole-hearted and sincere "Can Do"-spirited people produced while the worthless religious experts peddled fear, paralysis and defeat disguised as a "Jesus saves" victory lap.
Will the real Jesus please stand up.
This is the Lord's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.
yep, another “the rapture is near” post.
Guess what FRiend: The rapture is NOT BIBLICAL. You have been misled.
Praise God, and thank the Lord for your salvation, but seriously, the rapture is not going to EVER happen.
Correct. The generation of the fig tree was the generation listening to Christ talking of the upcoming destruction of the second temple in Jerusalem. The book of the Apocalypse talks of the destruction of physical Jerusalem in 69AD, which was the harlot-city devoured by the beast, the 10th legion. The new, spiritual Jerusalem is us, Christianity.
No. Jesus is THE Son of God. The only one. The Greek word used for only indicates only one when describing Jesus as the only Son of God.
Believing in Jesus without self-mastery or service is such an easy path. It does not lead to salvation, but instead, rebirth.
Mm, expand on that?
Many of your questions are answered in Catholicism...for example, people who have not known Christ but hear the Holy Spirit and lead good, moral lives do not go to hell.
I am a convert who thirsted for more knowledge of Jesus Christ. I have found it in Jesus’ church He began over two thousand years ago.
It is like finally coming home!
