I still belong to a Methodist church but I’m becoming increasingly uneasy. We recently had a pastor who was a Korean immigrant and a graduate of the traditionalist Fuller Theological Seminary. His theology was grounded in the Bible and he preached that both the Old and New Testaments point to Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Redeemer. But he has been replaced by a liberal who, among other things, sees Jesus as sort of a social justice warrior who was neither born to a virgin nor born in Bethlehem.

If I can find a house of worship that isn’t Calvinist, Roman Catholic or Mormon and which features traditional music instead of that reprehensible, unlistenable “praise” music that has become almost ubiquitous, I might change churches.

In So. California that's a TALL order!

I attend a non-denominational Protestant church that uses the "unlistenable" worship music, often with a soulish bent (about 60% minority in my church). :) I told you that to give myself a little street cred by letting you know I'm advising you to try a church that's not like mine.

IMHO, the Baptists have done a good job of not being so Calvinist, at least in Alabama. When I was young you'd hear the once-saved-always-saved message every now and then from the pulpit. Nowadays it's almost non-existent. About the only time you hear it is if you ask a Baptist (i.e. your Sunday school teacher or a pastor) if they still believe in Calvinism. For that matter, all of the evangelical denominations in Alabama have done pretty much the same thing with the various tangent beliefs (not making a big deal about them like they use to, even if they still believe them). I'm not saying the Baptists are Armenian like you and me. I'm just saying you hardly hear the Calvinism any more. But you can easily find a Baptist church that still does the old-school music.

Church of God is also good for it, at least in Alabama. I believe they've always been Armenian and many of them have the old school hymn book music. Plus, both the Baptists and COG's push holiness living like Wesley did.

They are so different in beliefs, but amazed you could clump them togetger like blue and dirt and electricity. You shall wander far until you look at facts. Godspeed.
