I’m a (female) lector at my Catholic parish. I’m not preaching. I’m reading. I pray before each reading I do that the Holy Spirit will use me to convey what God wants conveyed, and that any personal opinion or agenda of mine will not be in it.
I have heard it said that the problem with having women in church roles is that then the men step back and let the women do all the work. Then, the men stop going to church and don’t think church is a guy thing any more.
So, it would be ok with me if there were no female altar servers, I guess. But I really do want to keep on reading. I learn Scripture much better when I read it out loud.
Thank-you for what you and God Bless.
Homilies are preaching are they not? This is what the article is about. Before VCII and "permanent deacons", only priests or transitional deacons gave homilies.

In my parish we do have them.
