The Koran is NOT Scripture.

An explanation of the historical continuity errors and misunderstandings of scripture contained within the Koran.

So you understand this better than the rest of us?

You have qualified yourself to teach us?

Really? How does that happen?

How do you determine our level of ignorance
so that you might be teach us?

Their Koran also has their god instructing them that the land of israel belongs to the Jewish people. It’s long past time to terminate the Muslim Occupation of the Jewish Promised Land! —— here’s one of several verses: —————-To Moses We [Allah] gave nine clear signs. Ask the Israelites how he [Moses] first appeared amongst them. Pharoah said to him: ‘Moses, I can see that you are bewitched.’ ‘You know full well,’ he [Moses] replied, ‘that none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has revealed these visible signs. Pharoah, you are doomed.’”

“Pharoah sought to scare them [the Israelites] out of the land [of Israel]: but We [Allah] drowned him [Pharoah] together with all who were with him. Then We [Allah] said to the Israelites: ‘Dwell in this land [the Land of Israel]. When the promise of the hereafter [End of Days] comes to be fulfilled, We [Allah] shall assemble you [the Israelites] all together [in the Land of Israel].”

“We [Allah] have revealed the Qur’an with the truth, and with the truth it has come down. We have sent you [Muhammed] forth only to proclaim good news and to give warning.”

[Qur’an, “Night Journey,” chapter 17)

How much of this is abrogated?

Crappy story line, the plot and characters change their mind/commandments constantly.

Oh but it's such a strong "religion" it has to murder people to force them to join, and murder people to keep them from leaving.

Murder murder murder, it's allah they're good at.

What Holy knowledge descended on you in order that you
might presume to educate the rest of us? How did you
manage to become so superior in knowledge that you
might teach us, the ignorant?

How?

According to Mohammad only the last words are valid - that is the Second Given half which is only knowable of you read the official Sunnahs and Hadiths: Talibari, Muslim, Isaq and Bukhari. The First Given half was based on or plagiarized from the early Bible and the Torah - a previous posted quoted from it, but those suras are not valid.

Another reason Mohammad abrogated the First Half is while that was in effect he only had around 150 followers and he was going nowhere. The Second Given half got things rolling with allah’s license to kill anyone not them especially Jews and Christian - later expanded to Hindus with that the jihad began led by Mohammad shouting, “Kill. Kill Kill” - his motto.

To his claimed ‘credit’ is his personal effort to behead over 400 prisoners. That’s a lot of work for this ‘Christ-like’ figure. Oh sorry, Christ didn’t kill anyone, but many in their ignorance believe the two are comparable, believing Mohammad is a ‘Christ-like’ figure.

This is correct.
The Koran is just the start of Islamic jurisprudence, which is the core of this extremely legalistic religion. Reading the Koran is not a good way to understand Islam.

"Reading the Koran is not a good way to understand Islam."

exactly. The Koran wouldn't make any sense by itself.

The Koran wouldn't make any sense by itself.

The problem with reading the Koran is it's 114 chapters are out of order. The Meccca and Medina chapters are mixed up.

Muhammad started in Mecca and tried to convert by lecturing people about Allah, without any threats of violence.
He did not convert many people only about 150 in 13 years.

His own tribe felt he was bad for business and planned to kill him after his uncle Talib who protected him died.
He fled north 200 miles to Medina with his best friend Abu Bakhr ,where he joined his converts and preached Islam, but also killed by the sword those who resisted his Islamic agenda.
This resort to violence over the next 10 years spread Islam over the entire Arabian peninsula.
It only took Muhammad 5 years to wipe out all the Jews in Medina.

By mixing up the Mecca mister nice guy chapters with the violent Medina no more mister nice guy chapters, the Koran is confusing, unless you first read about the life and times of Muhammad, and find out and read the Koran in historical order. -Tom

Right and that’s why reading the Sunnahs and Hadiths are essential to the understanding of the koran. Absent that, its just a waste of time as the reader will understand nothing or misunderstand everything which is likely worse.

The book is a mess. The compilers of the Koran, which was not the false prophet Mahomet, did not know what to make of it. It was “written” down after Mahomet's many epileptic trances. whoever was there just wrote it down on anything they could find—palm leaves, stones, bones—anything. Aiesha, Mahomet's child bride, recounts a story where one part of the koran , written on palm leaves, was eaten by a donkey.
As it was not a true scripture given of the true God, they did not know what to do with it. So they pieced it together with the longest surahs to the shortest, irrespective of the historical dates of the surahs. But they even got that wrong as the second is longer than the first. The whole thing is a joke, an evil joke on humanity and true Judeo-Christian society and culture.

Yes, you can't understand Islam simply by reading the Koran. For example, the passage condemning Abu Lahab and his wife-without specifying who they are, what their offenses were, or why they deserve hellfire-makes absolutely no sense as a standalone passage in the Koran.

However, Islam, as Muslims conceive of it, doesn't make sense period, even if you've read every Tafsir and Hadith-either daif or sahih-there is.

There's no way to make sense of a religion that claims that a book which asserts that Jesus was never crucified, Haman was a regent under Pharoah, and the Sun sets in a muddy puddle, is a God-written, pre-existent, inerrant document.

The best part in my opinion of the Qur'an is Al-'Uzza, al-Lat and Manah which are Allah's three daughters (Sura 53:19-23.) Then after saying that the devil himself told him to say it and he was tricked. Which means he is admitting the devil's own words come out of his mouth.

Later he admitted a large part of what he said was from the devil himself.

of course Muslims compartmentalize the Qur'an and the hadiths to what are strong and weak. So it's all good.

Not only abrogated!!
Bid Mo’s wives rebelled against some revelations and commands.
Seems some goats, or sheep, were accused of eating some of the lost revelations.

Betcha a goat ate the “last” revelation>”c’mon guys, this was a big joke all along, none of it is true”

Prove me wrong

That is why Stephen Coughlin was and remains spot on correct to point out that we do not need to concern ourselves with what is the real Islam but only need to show what texts used by Muslims say, books which are on sale in Mosques or Muslim Bookstores all across the land, and which are for Muslim use to instruct what is proper doctrine.

The whole you need to know Arabic is nonsense, for per the OIC and with at least the concurrence of the highest scholarly authorities in Sunni Islam we do in fact find English as one of the official languages approved for such books, and they, if they are actually FOR Muslims and not for consumption by non-Muslims, apparently have to get some level of approval, to have that *bling* of scholarly blessing ... again, the Sunni world but the Shites etc will have their own respective authorities.

As you say, it’s legalistic ... so where many of Islam’s Useful Idiots don’t mind flying by the seat of their pants in excusing away Islam as the root of wars and terrorism (like how they glossed over the Fort Hood shooter’s apparently quite nuanced reasons for what he did) you can bet the terrorist frequently can’t play fast and loose too.
