I went to a crazy church in MS a few times. Rolling in the aisles, speaking in tongues etc. It was kind of expected by the couple I was working for. That job didn’t last long. One day they had all the teenage kids sit on the edge of the stage. Right at eye level to the other church members sitting. Half the girls were wearing sun dresses and didn’t have enough sense to keep their legs closed.
Another time the preacher’s daughter got up and sang some new wave song about Jesus. She was 16, thin yet shapely and wearing a tight sun dress. The chorus of the song was her moaning over and over “I want to feeeel you”. Talking about feeling the spirit of course.
When she was done, the collection plate made the rounds for the second time. All those poor guys wiped the sweat from their brow and dug deep into them pockets.
“...The preachers daughter got up and sang some new wave song about Jesus. She was 16, thin yet shapely and wearing a tight sun dress....”
Whenever I am confronted by a sight like that (like yesterday, two girls on an elevated altar who didn’t have the sense to know their bare knees were eye level to us) I recall the prayer offered up by the late great Lewis Grizzard:
“Lord, I give thanks to Thee for having vouchsafed to Thy humble servant this Heavenly vision of some of the beautiful things which Thou hast made!”
A long legged girl in a minidress who has to sit sideways in the pew is a another favorite.
As for leggings, even slim girls should remember that they jiggle as they walk. That’s why skirts were invented.
