A whiff of brimstone’s in the air.
It clings to those with bright pink hair.
I fear that some day,

See, right there it explains why the wise have been saying all along, "Go Navy, Beat Army." :)
Remember the Navy slogan that had been routinely mocked?
A Global Force for Good.
Americans lament, "We're not the world's policeman" (or charity dispenser, or chump) because even if we had unlimited resources, the world hates us anyway. "Ingrates."
From an entirely different direction though, comes a whole other perspective.
Nothing is a coincidence.
Manifest Destiny: to save the world from itself. The Navy even has to put the Army in its place.
