I meant you no disrespect whatsoever. When I wrote “You are such a clown.” I was referring to your posting name “chuckles”, and alluding to the famous episode of the Mary Tyler Moore show when she can’t help laughing at the funeral of “Chuckles, the Clown” who was killed when an elephant sat on him (as I recall)...That’s why I wrote, “Sorry, I just couldnt pass up the opportunity,” because it was such a cheesy joke. I figured that everyone knew about “Chuckles, the Clown.”
Again, my most sincere apology. I meant you NO DISRESPECT, OR INSULT WHATSOEVER!
As for a response to the rest of your arguement to my missive, well, we’re talking deep theology here that I am not able at this time to address satisfactorily (and may never be able to fully address). It will have to remain for another time...or many other times, I expect.
I bear no animus to Christianity, I simply do not agree with, nor do I accept some of the basic tenets, as I am a Jew, not a Christian. Let me say this to you, however, as I have just read further into your reply to me.
G-D does not lie. EVER. The very FIRST COMMANDMENT is “I AM THE LORD THY GOD! THOU SHALT HAVE NO GODS BEFORE ME!”
If one does not accept that then don’t read on, because this is not for you. If one does accept that FIRST COMMANDMENT with all their heart and soul, then there is no possibility of accepting any other form of deity whatsoever. I do not expect you to believe that with all your heart and soul, but, as a Jew, I do. I also believe that Jesus, was a Jew to his last breath, and as such would have accepted the FIRST COMMANDMENT with ALL his heart and soul, and been appalled, HORRIFIED at the thought of being himself deified, in direct contradiction to the FIRST COMMANDMENT.
We are both free to believe as we do, and I, for one, see no purpose for further discussion of the matter. Torture unto death would NOT alter my beliefs, let alone mere argument, and I do not seek to alter, or denigrate yours. There is no basis for argument.
Again, be certain that I meant you no disrespect when I refered to you as a clown...a good joke gone bad. Sorry.
I was alluding to the episode on the Mary Tyler Moore show where she can’t stop giggling at the funeral of “Chuckles, the Clown”
That’s why I wrote that I just couldn’t pass it up, even knowing that it was a cheesy joke.
Sorry about that.
Thank you very much for your illuminating post. I enjoyed it, and will assimilate the message. Thanks.
you better do a Bible review. God does not go back on his word to anyone. Christian did not replace Israel. That is called replacement theology and it is wrong.
He hasn't at all. The promise was always to Christ, spiritual Israel, and all those who belonged to Him both in the Old and New Testament eras.
Galatians 3:16 "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ."
Galatians 3:26-29 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Without one on one conversation with our Scriptures in hand, it would be too complicated to explain over the internet.
I may be a little different than most Christians you have met. I firmly believe in the Jewishness of Christ and have rejected those that want to cut Israel out of their covenants with God. We tend to look at Jews as unfinished or another term is incomplete. You believe the Tanach, but are still awaiting your Messiah. He is described all over Scripture, but you were looking for a Warrior King to free you from the Romans. For us, he came as the lamb of God to rescue us from our constant sin.
A picture of this is seen in Genesis 22. We look at Abraham as Father of Isaac acting out what God the Father would do for us with His Son. Abraham went with Him up the hill, Isaac even brought his own wood, Abraham bound him and was about to sacrifice Isaac and God stopped it from happening. God provided His own sacrifice hung in the thorn bushes. Thousand of years later, God provided His own sacrifice so we wouldn't have to. Jesus said no one takes His life, but He gives it willingly. The Father sacrificed His own Son to show His love for us, just as Abraham showed God his love for God. Genesis 24 is the story of the Holy Spirit( any unnamed servant is the Holy Spirit)going to get a bride for Isaac( the person playing Jesus) in the last chapter. Exodus speaks of a "rock" that followed them in the wilderness giving rivers of water. It speaks of Mana, or Bread from heaven. There is so much "Jesus imagery" in Exodus it's hard to miss. Isaiah 53-54 is hard to miss that Jesus fulfilled the whole thing.
It would be interesting for you to ask a Messianic Jew what was it that convinced them to go on to the New Testament.
Your Messiah is coming, but again it will be under great persecution from the world( the reason I posted this message against antisemitism in the first place. You say "Never again" but it will come again. The world will never accept anything of God without war. Christians will be persecuted along with you. We will, however be removed before the Antichrist is revealed.
The advantage to being Jewish and well versed in Scripture is you can see the fulfillment of Torah in Jesus if you are willing to look.
You aren't abandoning Jewishness by believing Jesus is Messiah. You aren't becoming Christian by accepting Him as Messiah. We look at it as you becoming complete. Gentiles that follow Jesus are just "believers" of all the Scriptures. Many denominational Christians differ from what I have been saying here, and again, that's why I wrote the post in the first place. Some "Christians" teach that the Jews have lost out and now the church is "Israel". They are the dangerous ones that are antisemitic and teach that God has abandoned Israel. There are antisemitic Christians as well as atheists, and I hate to say it, Antisemitic Jews. There are some Jews that I can't make an argument other than to say they hate themselves and their own people.
God bless you and yours and know that not everyone is against you. We can disagree and I will always back Israel.
Romans 11
Christ is not Israel. He is the line of Abraham. the Covenant was to Israel. you are preaching false doctrine.
Good luck to you
Hosea 11:1 Matthew 2:14-15
Matthew 2:14-15 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Hosea 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
He is the line of Abraham. The Covenant was to Israel
Correct!
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
you are preaching false doctrine. Good luck to you.
Read your bible first before speaking such nonsense. This is the mainstream teaching of Christians going back nearly 2,000 years, with few exceptions. Matthew Henry, Luther, Calvin, all the leaders of the Puritans, Church Fathers, etc. etc. etc., found this all quite uncontroversial.
True and they are all wrong. Many adaptations of the ‘church’ are wrong. Just because it has been done that way for a long time doesn’t make it correct. Parse it how you want but God will not abandon Israel.
Apparently they aren’t wrong since you won’t address the scripture in any meaningful way lol.
I do not need to argue your misinterpretations of scripture.
Actually, after your LOL comment I no longer wish to discuss anything with you. That show a lot about who you are and where you are on your Christian walk. You believe God is a liar and I don’t.
When you failed to address the scripture and went straight to the retarded heresy talk, I knew talking to you would be fun!
