Pope Francis: No Place for a ‘Catholic Party’ in Politics

Pope Francis called on Catholics to embrace political pluralism Monday, insisting that there is no longer any place for a “Catholic party.”

“I invite you to live your faith with great freedom, never believing that there is a single form of political commitment for Catholics: a Catholic party,” the pope told a delegation of young Latin Americans from the Academy of Catholic Leaders Monday. “A Catholic party no longer works.”

Francis and his pluralism again; God wills it, i.e., Bergoglio wills it.

When was there ever a “Catholic Party”? The previous Popes didn’t spend all their time talking political agendas like the current one. Global warming, economic equality, immigrant rights, those are all left-wing political buzz phrases, and all he preaches.

God isn’t necessarily with the GOP but Satan definitely favors the Democrats. It isn’t about Catholic purity or a party for Catholics... it’s about opposing evil. It isn’t our fault the Democrats sponsor the culture of death but they should surely do it without our support.

Covering his butt on not excommunicating CUOMO, PELOSI etc and “It’s OK to be in a pro-abortion party provided you are thinking you are enjoying your faith”. Too many lite in the loafers priests surrounding him, IMHO.

Francis continuing destructive confusing pontificating on temporal worldly social behavior has nothing to do with and avoids articles of faith. Let alone refusing to question and expound on the profound differences with the claims made by Islam and its followers simply because of its assertion of being monotheistic legitimizes it. Is leading to misguided conversions and a serious fracture within Christianity and The Roman Rite .

Europe has (or had) a history of “Catholic parties.” in countries such as Italy, the Christian Democrats were de facto the “Catholic party” in that they appealed to practicing Catholics as voters, opposed communism and were generally on friendly terms with the Church. Similarly, the CSU in Bavaria was and perhaps still is very much the “Catholic party.” The Christian Democrats in Italy, West Germany and the Benelux countries were an important bulwark against Soviet communism 1945-89. As such, it’s unsurprising that Bergoglio, who never met a commie he didn’t love, would oppose the concept.

“In politics, it is better to have a polyphony inspired by the same faith and composed of different sounds and instruments than a dull, monotonous melody that is seemingly correct but homogenizing and neutralizing,” he added. “No, it’s not the way.”

So, Catholicism is creating politics that are "a dull, monotonous melody that is seemingly correct but homogenizing and neutralizing."

Idiot.

Pope Francis, who has been an outspoken critic of new populist movements in Europe, seemed to change his tune Monday, throwing his support behind new groups of populist origin in Latin America.

Better optics? But then doesn't this contradict his arguments, since he claims in the article that Hitler led a populist movement that started WWII?

There is right, and there is wrong. They are not always that easy to identify, but they are definitive and absolutely separate. This Pope is lost, and seems to be currently resistant to what God is telling him. He is pushing moral relativism, and I think he thinks he can ‘modernize’ the Church to appeal to everyone. Everyone can find something personal in what God is saying, but what God is saying is not ‘relative’ and ‘variable’.

Galatians 1: 8-10

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

...if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Of course. I wasn’t considering parties in Italy. When Jesus said “My kingdom is not of this world”, it should mean that the Pope would not put politics ahead of religion. I have no problem with a political party putting its religious beliefs first, however. But fat chance we’ll ever see that without liberals screaming “separation of church and state!”.

It’s getting to the point where there’s no place for practicing Catholics in the Vatican.

So those Popes that feilded armies and tried to conquer various places in alliance with the likes of the Republic of Venice and Kingdom of Sicily were not the leaders of a defacto political party?

What were the Papal States?

I’m not a Catholic so help me here, is this guy saying that probably 8 of 10 Medieval Popes were anti-Popes?

Geez, John Calvin, Menno Simmons and Martin Luther might agree with that!
