His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk celebrated the rite of consecration of the tallest memorial cross in Russia on Drokino Mountain at the border of Krasnoyarsk with the Emelianovsky Region today, reports the press service of the Krasnoyarsk Diocese.
At a height of 154 ft., the stainless steel cross is the tallest in Russia and the third tallest in the world. It was designed to become the new symbol of Krasnoyarsk. Located at the symbolic gate to the city, it is perfectly visible to those entering the city by plane, train, or automobile.
The cross was erected completely on the donations of believers, without receiving any public funds.
Met. Panteleimon opened the event, attended by a number of local public servants, with a word of gratitude:
This cross is invested with energy, desire, creative power and love for the Motherland
With sincere love I turn to those who, in a certain sense, conquered this mountain, putting this symbol of life here, this monument of light and morality and morality
and I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your hard work. Thank God that we are all children of peace and love, and it is very important for us to remain a nation that remembers and honors its history, its traditions, culture and spirituality.

Somehow I doubt that their Supreme Courtski will even have to bother dealing with this...it will get laughed out of the District Courtskis over there first.
There is a cross in Southern Illinoisnear Alto Pass that is 110 feet tall. Since it’s at the top of a hill, it can be seen for many miles.
The small group that smashed and plundered Russia is now smashing the USA.
Almost inconceivably, Russia now might be more Christian than our own country.
Ah, the Effingham IL cross. Saw it plenty of times.
Political correctness was invented in Russia and ruled there between 1930-1950s. In that sense they understand the concept quite well. Although it was in decline ever since and by 1970 has turned into a subject of universal mockery.
Thats about right! I recently got back from living almost a year and a half in Russia, and the lack of political correctness is quite refreshing. Although, one difficulty (for me), was the fact that their official (even legal) word for people of African heritage sounds verbally a hell of a lot like a certain racial slur beginning with N in English.
Krasnoyarsk was home to a huge radar array in Soviet times.
I wonder if it’s just a cleverly disguised antenna?
