Wow King Louis XVI was a great man according to his own declarations. A far cry from the modern godless elitists parading as so-called leaders. Have writers of history lied and twisted the truth of who this king truly was?

Thomas Paine was a member of the Convention but voted against the king’s execution, because of his help to the United States during the Revolutionary War. The vote for the king to be executed immediately carried by a one-vote margin. The king’s cousin, the Duke of Orleans (father of the later King Louis Philippe), was one of those who voted for the king’s immediate execution. The Duke was later guillotined. Thomas Paine narrowly missed being guillotined.
