Committing homosexual acts makes you a homosexual, just like committing adultery makes you an adulterer. Homosexual thoughts does not make you a homosexual. Jesus Christ can save men from all of these things...

That is basically the teaching of the RCC, but it begs the question of what is there other than sexual deviancy that defines homosexuality.

A possibly more clear way to say it is: Being tempted is not a sin. Entertaining or acting upon the inappropriate behavior is.
