You have free exercise. The state does not. A state school should not take children to church, a point that ought to be indisputable.
Atheists are the children of Marx, and the enemies of America.
Exactly.
It’s well worth the trip west if you can pull it off.
I find myself in a strange position here as a Christian: agreeing with the atheists to not take schoolchildren to see this. It’s filled with the nonsense young-earth narrative, which asks us to believe more and more ridiculous notions by the year, like vast changes in the speed of light (”Starlight and Time”) or super-rapid post-Ark evolution. It’s sure that God made the heavens and the earth. However, it’s equally clear they were not made on Ken Ham’s timeline.
Lovely Christian response there
Thats because Islam isnt a religion.....
Did this group complain when school kids were given a tour of a big city mosque? I don’t recall them complaining then.
I don’t see that happening, but it’s something to keep in mind if we decide to make a pilgrimage to the Old Home Place in Missouri.
It's a Historical venue....
“A state school should not take children to church, “
Maybe better is, “A state school should not FORCE children to a church”.
In the ‘50s and early ‘60s our school buses drove kids to the churches of their parents’ choice once a week for “religious instruction”. It was optional, and part of the education curriculum. It was a better world morally — and academically.
Things are really getting bad when Christians start saying “**** off!” and “**** you!” and give the middle finger salute.
The Children’s Zoo in Central Park used to have a Bible theme. It had Noah’s Ark and the Whale and some other stuff. Then they did the whole thing over with an environmental theme. I didn’t realize the reason until someone pointed it out.
Scalia seemed to think that if people in general are allowed to do something, then religious people should be allowed to do roughly the same thing.
So, since kids are being taken to visit mosques, then they should be able to visit the Ark too.
I hope I’m not oversimplifying his position.
The most interesting thing to me lately about the Ark is that arks have no tiller or rudder or sails or oars. You can’t steer them.
Thus the “Ark” of the Covenant: The Covenant is what it is, it goes where it goes, don’t try to steer it with a human hand.
