For the Record: Msgr. Bux questions Ratzinger's resignation, Bergoglio's legitimacy

We post this now as an important part of the record during the reign of Bergoglio. While we discussed this on Twitter a few days ago, we are just now able to post this on the blog. Long-time readers know we have followed the "Good Bux" for many years (click the tags at the bottom of the post to read more).

What the Msgr. is speaking to, the validity of Benedict's abdication, and naturally following the legitimacy of Bergoglio's election, is no longer now reserved to online chat rooms and church basement coffee hours. What has been hidden for five years in the shadows is now illuminated and out in the open.

We take no position on this here at Rorate -- other than sunlight is always the best disinfectant.

From PJ Media, with original interview from Aldo Maria Valli:

To address the current crisis, he suggested that an examination of the “juridical validity” of Pope Benedict’s XVI’s resignation was in order to “overcome problems that today seem insurmountable to us.” The theologian consultor to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints was implying that further study of the situation could reveal that Francis is not and has never been a valid pope, but is, in fact, an antipope who could be removed from the papacy, thus nullifying his "insurmountable" errors.

In an important interview that was overlooked last month, a Vatican theologian said that unless Pope Francis corrects himself and reaffirms Church teaching on morals, the faith, and the sacraments, "the apostasy will deepen and the de facto schism will widen."

Msgr. Nicola Bux, a former consultor to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith under Benedict XVI, made the remarkable comments in an in-depth interview with Vatican reporter Aldo Maria Valli, the same reporter who interviewed Archbishop Carlo Viganò before he accused the pope of covering up clerical sexual misconduct in a stunning eleven-page letter back in August.

Writing on his own blog, National Catholic Register reporter Edward Pentin says that Bux warned that the current pope is issuing statements that are generating “heresies, schisms, and controversies of various kinds” and that the pontiff should issue a profession of faith to restore unity in the Church.

This is one more plank laid along side the Viganò expose and the Dubia of the four cardinals. This one will have legs too.

This one I could have written, as well as most other of the faithful. I appreciate his particular theological understanding of our current Two Pope’s situation. Not being a theological scholar, I can’t say, but his arguments made more sense to me than anyone else has on that subject. Much more depth or weight, I thought.

I claim zero expertise in this area of church law. But imho, his predecessor was/is recognizably Christian....

John Paul II had intelligence and courage.
Benedict XVI had intelligence but no courage.
Francis has neither.

Nice.

Here’s another:

John Paul II was a very extraordinary Holy Man.
Benedict XVI is a very extraordinary intellect.
Francis is a very ordinary Jesuit.

Some may consider this crazy, but I’ve long suspected that B16 is being kept alive by God as a counter-sign against the Bergoglio papacy and also as a chastisement—he’s being punished by being forced to personally witness the extraordinary damage that he, in his weakness, inflicted upon the Church. He comforts himself by uttering statements like “The Lord wins in the end” because he knows bitterly how badly the Church and faith are losing under the loser from Argentina.

If Francis is an antipope are we still waiting for Peter the Roman?
