Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This morning, as I was walking with Penny, I encountered a neighbor who just LOVES my dog. So I stopped to chat while he patted Penny and rubbed her ears and played with her.

Now my neighbor is not at all what you would consider a "religious" man, but he talks like a FReeper. We chatted about the Election, about Broward County (my previous home), about various firearms and their relative merits, the Border, and, of course, about President Trump. Like me, he is appalled by the hatred and dishonesty coming from the left, even some of his own relatives. We had a lovely talk, and I told him about today being designated among FReeper Prayer Warriors as a Day of Prayer for Our President and Our Nation (I took the liberty of pinging you all to that thread). He kind of shrugged at that, but there's hope for him, I know. You may want to include him in your prayers!

Cornelius the Centurion was a Roman through and through. he was a high-ranking officer in the Roman Army and was in charge of 100 men. From the Text, we can infer that he was stationed in a troublesome province, but still had his own home and his family with him.

Yet, some may infer that this fine officer may have "gone native" during his posting. Here he was, being kind to the people he was supposed to be oppressing as a member of an occupying force, and PRAYING TO THEIR GOD! (Now, remember, the Ancient Romans had a whole Pantheon of gods and goddesses, so this was weird!)

How could this happen? Would Cornelius find himself in trouble with his commanding officer for this outreach? Was he powerful enough that he could get away with it? While Cornelius wasn't the FIRST Gentile to Believe, he was the first Gentile to receive the Gospel from Peter. Peter didn't like Gentiles very much, and who could blame him, after what he had been through.

But God needed to deal with Peter on this matter, and it was to be Cornelius who would be the person upon whom this grace would rest.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance..” Psalm 33 NASB

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"The Vision Of Cornelius The Centurion"
Gerbrand van den Eeckhout - 1664

_ HERE was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the
people, and prayed to God alway.
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
