An Episcopal bishop in Albany, New York, has issued a directive banning same-sex marriages in his diocese, saying the church has been “hijacked by the ‘Gay Rights Agenda.’”

The Rev. William Love says in a pastoral letter that Scripture describes same-sex relationships as “sinful.”

He also says that “Satan is having a heyday bringing division into the church.”

His directive Saturday comes three weeks before a resolution allowing same-sex marriages in Episcopal churches nationwide goes into effect. …

Glad to hear there’s an orthodox bishop with guts left in TEC.

Why do people think division is a bad thing?

Luk 12:51 Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!

As always, get your Bibles out and read it in context.

He can expect to be deposed for heresy to the Episcopal religion.

The CEV renders the latter part of the verse as “I came to make people choose sides.” The last word (or phrase in this version) is a translation of Greek diamerismon, which literally means a partition.

On an off topic:

Has anyone noticed the surreal coincidences of names and other designations in today’s societal news? A “Rev. Love” holds the biblical position on godly sexuality, while names “calling evil good” abound, like “Dan Savage,” the ugly face of the sodomite hordes. The address of the far-left sodomite organization attacking Scott Lively, The Center for Constitutional Rights, is “666 Broadway.” (666, the number of the Beast of Revelation and Broadway, the way of destruction.) CCR was representing SMUG, Sexual Minorities Uganda. How appropriate.

There are many other examples that I can’t put my finger on right now. But I find this downright Bunyanesque.

Good for Bishop Love! But I am afraid his standing up for traditional Christian values in the Episcopal Church is too little, and 45 years too late.

Still, ‘if God is with us, who can stand against us?’ My prayers go with him.

[FYI: I was brought up an Episcopalian. I haven’t be able to stand to attend an Episcopalian Church for worship since 1972. I do not feel the spirit of God there, anymore.]

Not sure what is going to happen here in Dallas. The VERY VERY vocal minority is just fine with same sex marriages, but the quiet majority are not. It's not that most care if they get married in general, just not as part of a formal sacrament of the Church.

That's my issue. I lean libertarian. I don't care what they do, but they also should not intrude on my beliefs. They can have civil unions. Get married in OTHER churches and so forth. But they are HELL BENT on pushing their crap on everyone, everywhere. No respect for other people's beliefs at all.

You’re going to have to lean away from libertarian. God does not leave an immoral society alone without punishment.

I am not an Episcopalian but have been watching what has happened to that church over the years.

It’s really a shame. From what I have seen the entire church is infested with lesbians and homosexual ‘ preachers ‘. A good many of these people do not seem to have any real understanding of the bible - I have no idea where they were trained.

A friend’s wife has a friend who was recently removed from her church and was not given another one. In fact I think she may have been removed from the ministry altogether. She ran a church right into the ground and it was actually sold not long ago.

I attended a baptism there a few years ago and her homily ( if that is the right word ) really had nothing to do with Jesus. I recall her taking a swipe at the Catholic Church over the issue of homosexuality and going on at length quoting some philosopher and it was really painful to listen to.

Two younger people I know were involved in their local parish and were part of the committee who voted on accepting a new priest into the church. The candidate was openly homosexual. When these two voiced their opinion that the man should not be considered at all they found themselves removed from the committee and completely ostracized. They left the church not too long after that.

I should add the above mentioned female priest has a homosexual son who believes he is married to another man. This woman’s great crusade was claiming her son and others like him were born this way and they should be accepted without having to change.

Another friend who passed not long ago was becoming more involved with his church about ten years ago. His priest, a lesbian, was also ‘ married ‘ and the man was deeply confused by all of this. I don’t know what happened eventually as the company at which we worked closed down and he retired.

It’s really sad what has happened to that church.

Any church which would approve of homosexual “marriage” is not God’s church at all.

My mother had come over from England as a child and raised all of us in the Episcopal Church. I was baptised an Episcopalian in 1946 at the ripe old age of 3 months. I was confirmed at nine, married my wife at 22, after returning from Vietnam, had both of my boys baptised when they came along, all at the same Episcopal parish.

Sadly, by the late 1990s, I could see what the future was going to be with the homosexuals taking over and the ordaining of women priests, and in 2002, we left to help form a new Anglican congregation.

I miss my church and resent very much being forced out by those who wanted to open the doors to unrepentant sinners who wanted to twist everything to accommodate their lifestyle.

My husband, children, and I left to join a traditional Anglican church in 1988. The last time I attended a service in an Episcopal church was my mother’s funeral in 2010.
