You better hope those treats have no tricks stashed or unstashed. LOL
I liked Halowe’en more than Christmas.
Right on cue every year!
I point out that a grandchild dressing as a puppy and visiting her neighbors to collect candy, is not satanic.
If you are not Catholic, you are not Christian.....
Chapter and verse please??
You’re wasting your electrons. There’s no convincing the latter-day Cromwwells. See, God is on their side, dontcha know?
twice in two days. Impressive.
Isn’t that the house limit on “we hate Halloween so no one else should enjoy it either” posts? I sure hope so.
Collecting as much sugar as one can beforehand to help make it through two solid days of praying to and for saints and the dead, and dealing with relatives and nosy church members at the same time, is a good thing. The Almighty understands. Trust me on this.
Boo!
There isn’t a lot of difference between leftists and some religionists - they both want to control others and impose their ideas on them.
LOL!
Since most Americans participate in one way or another in Halloween I guess we are all going to hell.
At least I will have a bag of candy to take with me, hope the heat doesn’t melt my chocolate. /s
As a parent, I see Halloween as a chance for kids to have a life experience of being mildly afraid in a safe environment. They may not know it is a controlled and safe situation, but it is. For many kids, it is their first foray into the outside world in the dark with the impression that there are bad things out there, unseen. Not a bad dry run for the real world, eh?
On a similar note, I find it very interesting that the witches in Harry Potter at the school of magic all celebrate Christmas. Their celebration is full of the decorations, Yula and Santa trappings but it is obviously Christ-less.
We never got into Halloween with our kids. We just told them that we didn’t like some of the traditions and history and gave them a handful of candy.
They all grew up to be very well adjusted.
On the flip side, a large church near us does a trunk or treat event that draws many thousands of people. Each kids gets some gospel literature along with a bunch of candy.
My wife and I went last year to hassle my kid, who was at work. He used to be the Chick Fil A cow.
Except for one time when some teens played a harmless little prank on us, I don’t remember ever being ‘scared’ over Hallowe’en. It was always exciting and magical, and exercised our imaginations.
Always got to get in some Catholic-bashing, eh? Even on Halloween.
Tell us why Catholics are not Christian. Details, please.
RAH
The dining hall in our local nursing home is decorated with skulls, skeletons, bats, ghosts, even miniature coffins.
Bet that’s good for the old folks’ morale, huh?
For far more than decades
Growing up it was a roving block party with home made food like candy apples, popcorn balls, donuts.....
Try reading in context with the rest of my comment.....
The answer is there...
