If you are a Protestant there is a good reason to celebrate that night - but not Halloween.
At 6:30 PM October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 Thesis to the door of the Wittenburg church and started the Protestant Reformation.
October 31, is Reformation Day.
If you are a Protestant only Christmas and Easter should be bigger holidays.
I agree and guess what they get no credit nor affirmation from Him for doing this at all. They need to be attacking the real problems.
As if eight-year old me cared about anything but the candy on Hallowe’en.
I knew somebody would go all bigot and joyless on this posting.
I enjoy Halloween for the sheer joy of watching the little children - the girls dressed as princesses and the boys dressed as pirates standing at my door while their moms stand smiling in the background. It’s a lovely tradition.
Here's something fun -- the ancient Celts believed the soul resided in the head, so when regular folk who did not have a druid's access to severed heads set out turnips instead, they'd place a candle inside to represent the soul.
So every time you see a jack-o-lantern, the light can remind you to pray for all souls.
I used to soap a windows on Halloween.
Quit doing that when everyone started carrying iphones.
Yeah....right.....
I guess judgemental religious bigotry is part of your Christian faith.....
What Deity did that fundamental belief come from?
How about the reverse?
If you are not Catholic, you are not Christian.....
1 Corinthians 10:25-31
25 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, 26 for, The earth is the Lords, and everything in it.[f]
27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, This has been offered in sacrifice, then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience. 29 I am referring to the other persons conscience, not yours. For why is my freedom being judged by anothers conscience? 30 If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?
31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
The Scots still use turnips!

Yup. As a kid type, our mission was to grab the biggest haul of candy we could in the allotted hours of Trick-or-Treat. It was the one day our parents let us scarf down as much candy as we wanted, or until we passed out from sugar overload, whichever came first.
Halloween can be a lot of fun for kids, but I am disturbed by the morbid and downright disgusting displays people put on their properties increasingly the past 10 years. I don’t get it.
Hallowe’en was one of the most fun times of the year for us kids. We weren’t thinking of ‘Satan’ at all - just having fun dressing up and running around in the dark collecting candy. I lived in a neighborhood with lots of elderly people, and they got a big kick out of having the kids come by.
I regret that the world isn’t as safe now as it was, and so many kids are denied this great little festival.
Egads. First its Halloween, then kids start reading Harry Potter, then they end up playing Dungeons and Dragons! Lord save them from Satans evil clutches and12-sided dice! The only thing my kids need fear is me digging through their candy bags and taking the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups...
You’re bad ;-)
Yet another one of your insane anti-holiday articles.
I bet they are too...
That's why God calls him the father of lies.
