“He listened very deeply from the heart,” they added.

Yeah, I'll bet he did -- only to try to figure how to get himself out of this mess.

Heart, my patoot.

We sort of nailed the whole business of ‘virtue signaling’ - the idea of doing some philanthropy not because of an interest of benefiting people, but in making a political statement.

There needs to be a term for the type of speech used by religious institutions who use certain words and turns of phrase in order to say basically nothing.

‘Discernment’ is one of those words. Every time I see it in print, or used in speech, I know that something bad is going to get papered over somewhere by some cleric.

The English Language is a powerful thing. We’ve captured so many horrible things in very tiny capsules. ‘Musak’ is an example. I don’t have to explain it - the word conveys so much more than a pile of words can.

Now there has to be a word to capture the oblivia that pours forth from churches, church boards, magisterium, circles, covens, murders, packs, and herds that run churches.

‘Discernment’, ‘Listened deeply from the heart’, excuse me, but now I have to see much lunch again today.

How about this - “He was forcing kids to have sex with him. We turned him in to the police. We found out his bosses knew and covered it up. We called the police and they took them away too. Trust is broken, but we acted. No church is immune, because church is for sinners, and all have sinned. Children, however, require protection, and the church as a body demands and expects that protection for its children.

If you see something say something.

Now we have to figure out how to forgive these reprehensible, wretched organisms who did this. Somehow and someday we have to forgive, but we are not required to forget.”
