Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father Who Art in Heaven
Sometimes we feel so lost!
Nothing Makes Sense.
Good things happen for the wicked,
and bad things happen to decent people.
The people in power prove to be perfidious,
They Call Good "evil", and evil "good".
Our Entertainments and "News" Media, feed us lies and coarsen our culture,
Making things acceptable, that to our parents would have been intolerable.
We See Your Name, Your People, and Your Word insulted daily.
How do we find our way through this morass?
Father, You Are Our Guide.
You speak to us, and You lead us through.
Thank You, Lord.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

  We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Yesterday was a day of extremes. My nephew and I had designated the evening to be the day of his debut on Bass at a coffee house open mike. I was to play guitar and sing, and he would play bass, after less than two months of lessons on that instrument. We were allowed two songs, so we chose two that really featured his bass playing, and they were not easy songs ("Riders of the Storm" and "Angie"). Although it was going to be a room full of strangers, we hoped to see my two brothers and their wives in attendance, so that there would be familiar faces in the crowd. The two of us arrived early, signed up, walked across the street for some fast food, and came back to see the room filling up with people, mostly older (older than even ME!) folks, some wearing Vietnam Veteran hats. I was wondering if our song choices had been appropriate, but now we were committed.

The order was chosen by lot, and we ended up in the middle of the program. Several acts preceded us, and they were mostly Country & Western, with superb guitar playing. I was getting more and more nervous by the minute. The Emcee played drums with a few of the acts, so I asked him if he would play with us. Then our moment came. The Emcee announced that this was my nephew's first time at this coffee house, and I said "It's his first time anywhere. He's only had two months of lessons." and we got onto the stage. From the second we started we grooved to the last note. My nephew was awesome, and the place rocked. At the end of our set, the coffee house erupted in applause.

My brothers and their wives left after our act but my nephew and I stayed longer and enjoyed the rest of the evening, and then I drove him home. When we got there, my brother and his wife were watching the news and were visibly upset. While we were enjoying ourselves at the coffee house, three towns barely 50 miles away had blown up from a gas explosion, burning or exploding at least 70 homes, and sending many to the hospital. We went from the elation of my nephew's successful debut to absolute horror and grief in less than a second.
