At least you have a first reading, most of the time OT, sometimes NT, for example during the Easter season, Acts. Then there is the Psalm, a second reading, from the NT letters, and then the Gospels. At least scripture is covered.

Roman Catholics cover only 13.5% of the OT if they attend Sundays and weekdays....3.7% if attend Sunday and Major Feasts.

For the NT the results are 71.5% and 40.8% respectively.

And this is important....this is after Vatican II.

Prior to Vatican II Roman Catholics only heard 16.5% of the NT and 1.0% of the OT.

Even if there is when a certain amount scripture is covered that is okay. Better to get a slice then no scripture at all.
