It’d be hard for US laity to shut the Vatican down financially.

But concerted effort on the part of US laity could shut down various US dioceses. Most money in most dioceses comes either from the parish assessments (bishop’s tax on collections at Mass), or the bishop’s appeal.

If US laity failed to contribute to the diocese directly, AND withheld all contributions to the collection baskets, I imagine the homoclerical demonocracy would start selling assets to survive, but after they sell the last Catholic school, convent under their control, and parish, they’ll start to starve.

Well the protest is now beyond the USA. Just seeing the pictures from Ireland is telling.

The comments of that Mexican Cardinal were unbelievably stupid. He acts like the Church has no need of the support of the laity.

He has suggested that victims who accuse priests should be “ashamed” because they too have skeletons in their own closets.

Those who “accuse men of the Church should [be careful] because they have long tails that are easily stepped on,” said Cardinal Sergio Obeso Rivera according to a report...

We shall see who's tails get stepped on.

I've been telling my mother not to give to the bishop's fund because of what they've been promoting.

She still keeps giving, and complaining about the un-Catholic bs the bishops keep promoting.

I have stopped contributing. I won’t give them money again until I’m convinced that REAL change is underway (or I conclude it will never happen and decide to go elsewhere).

Right now all indications are that it’s back to Spin as Usual.

I believe the money I give the church stays in my parish. I have a wonderful parish with fantastic priests. The money I give goes to help the local community here... not the cardinals and archbishops of Rome.

I hate not giving to my parish. It is a community I enjoy belonging to,and I give to St Vincent de Paul because I know tge money reaches people in need. But the diocese and most second collections will no longer find my contributions forthcoming. This Pope is a disgrace to the Saint whose name he took. And as much as I admire Bernadone, I think now is more the time for Ignatius or Xavier.

"As a lay Catholic, I sometimes feel helpless to stop this and I have only one tool in my box. Money. I am strongly considering not offering my money at Mass in protest until this is cleaned up. I will spend more time volunteering,” said one “heartbroken” church follower on Twitter"

Actually, you have two tools. You can also #WalkAway. It's not just for Democrats anymore. Walk away from the cesspool the catholic church has become. Because it's only going to get worse.

Also would be a good time to start taxing the Church.

Not from parishioners perhaps. Do any foreign governments funnel money to the Vatican? Just curious.

Just ran across this from 2015...

Catholic Church collects $1.6 billion in U.S. contracts, grants since 2012

Wow. And interesting timing...

The Catholic Church has survived evil leaders in the past and will survive this crop. Do not let poor shepherds keep you from receiving the Eucharist.

Prayers up for Holy Mother Church.

Yeah, we plan to hold onto the good shepherds. The false ones will be weeded out.

We’ll know the Catholic Church is “fixed” when it becomes commonplace for faithful Catholics to resort to having a humble priest come to say Mass in their garage or basement.
