And therein lies the problem. The scum has formed at the top and they are filtering out the good men who would make excellent, chaste holy priests and only accepting the like-minded perverts. Many of the good men who do manage to get in probably leave in disgust. I hate what's happened to our church. I don't care how many bishops. cardinals, etc, they have to get rid of. Pruning the dead wood will lead to a stronger priesthood.
This will be why in the future the western Church will have to accept stable, decent, and heterosexual men who are in traditional marriage for the priesthood.
I don't either. We started off with eleven, because one of the twelve was a traitor. If that's where we have to go, then let it be done.
What you said times 100. It’s especially bad in orders like the Jesuits. A few years ago, I had the misfortune of attending a talk by a young Jesuit. Guy was around 35-40, I guess. Gaydar put him at 10 on a 10 scale. He talked about his calling. Said he had been attending mass one day at one of the big Jesuit university campuses and saw an item in the bulletin about Jesuit recruitment weekend retreat and decided to give it a shot. Went and had a fabulous time. He said the guys thought he was hilarious, told he would make a great Jesuit, blah blah blah. During the whole thing, I was thinking that this is the problem. They recruit each other, promote each other, etc., and the whole corrupt thing perpetuates itself.
