Yes, Jesus was the rock and peter was also called the rock.
John 1:42
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
Greek interprets it as stone, but any one can look it up and see that Cephas means rock in both Hebrew and aramaic.
Greek: 4074 Pétros (a masculine noun) properly, a stone (pebble),
4074 /Pétros (small stone) then stands in contrast to 4073 /pétra (cliff, boulder, Abbott-Smith).
Nothing but trash, for the purpose of making a liar out of Jesus.
And of course Paul knows more about it than Jesus did because Paul is the God of the protestants.
But surly Peter could not have known any thing because he is the protestants punch bag and a hero to the catholics.
Sorry to appear pissed but you prosti -I mean protestants make me sick with all of your made up bull shiit.
The Greek that Scripture was inspired in is nothing but trash to you?
Well, you certainly are entitled to your opinion but I’d consider the original Greek far better to build a doctrine on than a translation in another language.
Rome’s whole argument for Peter being the rock is based on a translation and it’s beyond ironic that Catholics disallow Scripture in the Greek, from the ancient manuscripts that we have, and build it instead on the English translation, which is really not as precise.
How hypocritical.

Your version makes a liar out of Yeshua.
He called him a hard throwing pebble, because he was so obstinate. He was constantly a self agrandiser.
