Happy to have had Fr. John as our associate pastor at St. Anne in Gilbert for a short time. He never pulls any punches.

I remember one of his homilies at St. Anne touching on homosexual behavior.

Several parishioners walked out.

It was awesome.

Why can’t this guy be pope?

We are Southern California. During Mass today, after Father David gave his homily, a man burst out loudly, saying “Are you going to address what happened this week? Are you going to talk about it? He was referring to the Pennsylvania report of priests and child abuse.

Clearly he was disrupting the recitation of the Liturgy. He was escorted out of the main worship space.

In the lobby, he continued to argue most assuredly that was the most opprtune time, during the Mass, to question the Church issues.

The ushers adamantly explained this is not the right time or place to try and discuss. The young man, 30ish, also further qualifyied his authority by invoking his masters degree in Theology at a prestigous university in New England.

He was given several options to utilize in order to present his concerns, but not by interrupting Mass.

He and his family left the building.

You didn't say, but I'm guessing he called it out as sinful?

Good riddance to the parishioners who walked out.

I remember that too. Didn't faze Father at all. If anything, it makes him all the more resolved to speak his mind.

Where I am today it was a decidedly milquetoast response - sad.

Many people in SoCal are understandably upset over the sodomite cabal that is the clergy there.

You know, the fag boys Mahoney churned out of his bathhouse in Camarillo.

If that guy doesn’t bring it up during mass, it will never be brought up in an honest way. And it will be business as usual for the filthy sodomites.

Thank you for posting this - what a powerful and heartfelt homily. A good man and one of the best priests I have ever known.

If I ever get down to see my daughter again in Chanler, I’m going to church with you — if I stay that long!

Wow. I am also in Southern California - proud to say Los Angeles and the surrounding suburbs are made up of some of the most devout Catholic communities in the world. The issue was addressed during mass this morning at my parish.

How did you and the congregation feel about the man who interrupted mass?

We attend mass at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Gilbert, AZ. I highly recommend the services.

I believe Mahony is the last living member of the Camarillo Four? He and Niederhauer and (?) Levada also shared a beach house. It was around 1966-ish they all graduated together.

I know young men who fled Camarillo in panic in the middle of the night, horrified at the homo aggression, never to return to the vocation.

My priest didn’t mention it. Not one word. His homilies usually last about 5 minutes. Don’t go to the bathroom or you’ll miss it.

I know a man who, upon graduating from St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, LITERALLY removed his shoes and left them behind.
