Temporary reprieve for Sikhs, Muslims and Christians
When a judge forced the University of Iowa to recognize a Christian student group on the same terms that it recognized a Muslim student group, the university balked.
It derecognized more than three dozen religious student groups that didnt explicitly allow students outside their faith to serve in leadership positions, including the Muslim club.
Following a new lawsuit by a different Christian student group, InterVarsity, in response to its sudden derecognition, the taxpayer-funded institution has allegedly relented, at least temporarily.
InterVarsitys lawyers at the Becket firm said Monday that the university agreed to reinstate its clients and the other religious clubs caught in the middle, including Sikh, Muslim, and other Christian groups.
The reinstatement is conditioned on the continuation of the litigation, according to Becket. That means if its clients lose, InterVarsity and the other clubs will be derecognized again.

Freedom of association is a fundamental First Amendment right.
No lamp post left behind.
Just conceding the point is not sufficient. The officials that implemented the anti constitutional policy and violated the civil rights of the students to associate freely, must be punished severely and financially. They must be sued as individuals.
Agreed. They need to know this is what will happen when they pull this stuff.
They were not even being consistent in their treatment of groups. Incredible they think they can even win this bullsh1t.
Every liberal is a violent totalitarian thug.
There are strong conservatives in Iowa state government. Where are they?

Univ of Iowa, ie the government, was just following orders.
The official national religion of the United States is ATHEISM.
Religion is 1, a belief in God, Atheism is -1, no belief in God. The exact opposite. The government is supposed to be 0 but they are not they take sides and promote -1, in complete defiance of the US Constitution.
Beckett did a lot of good work early on with RLUIPA.
