Pope Francis on Thursday declared that capital punishment is "inadmissible" and against Catholic teachings, significantly altering the church's stance on the death penalty.
The catechism had previously held that the death penalty could be admissible "if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor." Francis immediate predecessors, Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, had expressed opposition to executions but maintained that they were acceptable in certain circumstances.
Pope Francis, however, essentially found that that view was outdated.
The shift also represents the latest move by Pope Francis that would appear to please more liberal-leaning clergy and worshippers in the church.
The pope also caused a stir in 2013 when he commented to reporters about homosexuality, "Who am I to judge?"

We aren’t to judge who is going where after death, but we can judge their behavior and actions when they harm other people.
Hence, carry on with just executions as always, and has been implemented via Catholic societies throughout history. Ignore Francis the Heretic, Francis the Commie, Francis the Betrayer of his God and his Holy Mother Church.
There is nothing wrong with the death penalty so long as it is justly applied. It should be carried out in the town square. In public, during the day, not hidden.

So the leftist Pope changed the catechism to make the death penalty “inadmissible”. Does this mean as good Catholics, we need to follow that? Kind of strange since Next to Christ on the cross were two criminals receiving the death penalty. I don’t remember Christ saying that their treatment was unjust. in fact, one of them said it their fate was appropriate, unlike Christ’s. So must we follow this new pop catechism concerning the death penalty? The answer is no.
