The Ukraine: Is it or is it not worth standing up for? Poland yes. Czech/Hungary yes. Something tells me that the Ukraine on it’s own is just another corrupt country.
Standing up does not suggest fighting for btw.
Ukraine was not a very stable country to start with. Half-Russian, Half-European, all corrupt. It didn’t have a very strong sense of its own culture or itself.
With that in mind, Obama and his band of fools played a very high-stakes game, attempting to destabilize elected President Yanukovych and replace him with Arseniy Yatsenyuk (remember “F### the EU,” and “Yats is our guy.” They gambled stupidly that Ukraine could survive another proxy-civil war and that Russia would not react to an American attempt to meddle in their former client state.
Obama was spectacularly wrong on both accounts. He broke the Ukraine, and Crimea and the Donbas are never coming back.
