To: Salvation

To the real topic: I am distressed by the use of the terms “liberal” and “conservative” in the Church. They are political terms and should be left in politics. Particularly as regards doctrine, one is either orthodox or one is a heretic.

I have learned to interchange the words faith and politics have mixed: conservative/orthodox and liberal/heterodox. It makes it palatable for me and prevents the confusion the word orthodox with the Eastern Orthodox churches.

Exactamundo. I have Catholic friends who consider me a “conservative” because I do not believe the Church should perform gay marriages. I've told them that believing marriage means one man and one woman does not make me “conservative”; it makes me Catholic.
