This is the reason so many people think badly of the RC Church, especially the current incarnation.
I wish Pope Francis would at least speak out against what they're doing.

On the one hand, you've got Fr. Gabriele, a good and conscientious priest who was faithful to God and to Tom, Kate, and Alfie.
On the other hand, you have a solid phalanx of U.K. Catholic bishops who not only abandon this suffering family and their doomed little boy, but also actively block and disrespect anyone who effectively comes to their aid.
Even though (!) Pope Francis not only arranged for them to get free medical care for Alfie at Gesu Bambino, but even pulled the strings to get them medical air transport from the Italian military, who had a medevac aircraft on standby to fly him to Rome at a moment's notice.
The one time the U.K. bishops oppose the Pope is when he's right!
