To Her Majesty in Parliament:
We the undersigned humbly petition Your Majesty for protection of life and liberty of your 23-months-old subject Alfie Evans.
The judges in Your Majesty’s Courts have given orders:
* to kill Alfie on an appointed hour at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool by withdrawing his life support;
* for the day and hour of that killing to be kept secret from the public to avoid any protest or hinderance; and
* for Alfie to be detained in Alder Hey until his death - any attempt to release him to be resisted by force, and punished by imprisonment.
These cruel orders are not authorised by any law ever passed in a democratic Parliament. Instead, the said judges pretend to exercise Your Majesty’s ancient autocratic jurisdiction over the life and death of your subjects.

The Queen can’t/won’t. It would be contrary to the Constitution, which, I know, isn’t written down.
I can understand that. But she holds a tremendous amount of influence, and public opinion and public pressure have to matter to her family too. This petition is also doing very well, so all in all, I think signing it is a good thing to do.
I think it is fairly likely Her Majesty has already made her views known to the Prime Minister on this.
That is all she can do constitutionally, unfortunately.

I will assume that British doctors either can’t read or have decided to ignore their oath?
The Queen is powerless in this matter. Under the constitution the sovereign has no authority to directly intervene in matters of governance and the courts. She does have the royal prerogative of consultation with her ministers. But any such intervention would always be strictly private. Any public expression of opinion on a political/legal issue could precipitate a serious constitutional crisis.
Wonder if she’d speak up if the newest royal baby was being starved? But, she wouldn’t have to. The “Royals” are above all the riff raff and people still worship at their feet.

Which by implication, means she isn’t the sovereign. It’s the most expensive stage for play acting as a royal. Theater that plays on the emotions of the people thinking there is a sovereign and a kingdom.
Rem acu tetigisti. The Queen is accorded the title of Sovereign as head of state. But in fact Parliament is supreme and has been since 1688 and the not so glorious revolution.
I know what you mean. I doubt many people have been thinking she would or could take some unilateral official action. Rather it’s her visibility and influence. People are also tweeting to Donald Trump about this. It’s amazing of bringing attention to the case and public pressure. And for what’s it worth, I’d be surprised if her family doesn’t exercise more unofficial power behind the scenes than is acknowledged.
