MANCHESTER, England, April 13, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A UK politician will raise the case of Alfie Evans in the EU parliament in Strasbourg on Monday.

Wajid Khan, an MEP for Manchester, wrote to Alfie's parents today to offer his support and ask permission to show the child's photograph during his speech.

"My heart goes out to you and your family," he wrote. "I am devastated to read and watch the circumstances at the hospital."

The MEP's support comes as Alfie's parents Thomas and Kate battle to remove their son from a children's hospital in Liverpool that has been empowered by the courts to remove the boy's life support. Parents say their 23-month-old son remains undiagnosed and is not as sickly as the hospital makes him out to be. The parents have arranged a medical team to transfer their son to care in Italy, but the hospital has refused to let the boy go. Police were brought in yesterday to ensure that parents did not remove their son from the hospital.

Khan noted that he had previously promised to make a speech about Alfie at EU Parliament, and that now his speech has been accepted. It will take place on Monday, April 16, 2018 and streamed live over the EU parliamentary website some time between 9 and 10 AM.

Well my hat is off to him. What Britain is doing is just plain wrong, without a doubt. Furthermore, there is no justification that they can provide for what they are doing. They are acting as if they are God.

When a muslim politician stands up to say what the pope will not say, in defense of human life, civilization is pretty much fizzled.

The NHS “authorities” not just “playing God.” They’re failing to play human.

Pope Francis has repeatedly voiced his support for Alfie Evans as well as Vincent Lambert, and the Gesu Bambino Pediatric Hospital in Rome has offered to admit Alfie if his parents can get him out of the country.

How right you are. At least not the kind of human I was brought up to believe in at any rate. 8>)

I disagree with Francis "repeatedly" voicing his support for Alfie.

Except for a pathetic tweet on April 4th. He did not speak again until this past Sunday on Alfie's behalf, two days after Alfie's first execution date.

And what's with his statement, "These are delicate situations, very painful and complex".

What is so "complex" about allowing parents doing their best to keep their child from being cruelly murdered by the state?

Like the homo Bishop Barros affair, too little, too late.

Oh, I agree the Angelus prayer and the Tweet are too little and probably too late. I was just correcting the notion that he’s not taken sides at all, and not (ever) spoken out. I doubt the Gesu Bambino hospital would have offered to admit Alfie if they thought the pope would not back them up.
