Henry Sire, the author of the bestselling book The Dictator Pope told Gloria.tv the real reason why the former Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Fra Matthew Festing, was disavowed by the Holy See.
The Order was about to receive a large donation for which the controversial German Grand Chancellor Albrecht Boeselager was the go-between.
But Boeselager was suspended by Festing for his role in distributing condoms and abortive hormones.
Now, this donation promised to bring benefits also to the Vatican and at least to one high ecclesiastic, That was more important to them than a question of the Church's moral teaching according to Sire.
Therefore, Pope Francis sacrificed Festing and put Boeselager de facto in charge of the whole Order.

Maybe but the simplest explanation is that he did it as a way to give the finger to Cardinal Burke, whom he had just exiled to Malta over the dubia letter and then, via this incident, neutered he power even within the order. Pure malice.
Reason??? Francis does not need a reason. He is a dictator and does whatever he wants to do. He has effectively destroyed the Knights of Malta, and he has done the same to the US based Papal Foundation by demanding that organization donate $25 million to a corrupt Italian hospital, an amount of money at least ten times the size of the largest donation that the Papal Foundation has ever made. Corruption resides in a hotel room at Casa Marta in the Vatican.
I knew some of them working with preventing leprosy when I worked in Liberia many years ago.
The passport allows them status independent of their birth countries.
So the real question is if the Pope can remove their leader?
