You should check out the book Clerical Error, written by a New York Times correspondant who was covering Vatican II and became acquainted with Fr. Martin. The book details how Martin seduced his wife and began an affair with her (the author and his wife were subsequently divorced) Martin then left Europe for the US under unexplained circumstances, and was mysteriously relieved of his Jesuit vows. Yes, I have read hhis book on exorcism, and was impressed. But there is something inexplicable about his murky past.
I don’t think being a sinner, as are we all, is all that inexplicable.
