The government is facing a fresh push to ban "conversion therapy" aimed at changing gay people's sexuality.
The Church of England has been calling for the highly controversial practice to be outlawed, after its ruling body voted for a ban last year.
Ministers condemned the "therapy" but have refused to meet Church campaigners to discuss the issue.
Now, Tory MP and church commissioner Caroline Spelman has vowed to set up a meeting with the minister in charge.
Labour MP Ben Bradshaw raised the issue in the House of Commons, telling MPs: "This so-called therapy does dreadful, dreadful damage to young people's emotional and psychological health and it is long overdue to be banned."
'Stamp out homophobia'
Ms Spelman, the Second Church Estates Commissioner, who provides a link between the Church of England and the Commons, said: "I am not responsible for the decisions of the government.
"But the general synod did vote clearly to ban gay conversion therapy absolutely unequivocally."

How is it that one can allow a person to “change” their sex thru surgery(mutilation) and hormones...or say they identify as someone or thing of a different gender...but you wont allow them to change their sexual orientation or sexual desires if they want to? How biased can one get?
Sounds like suppression of the truth to me.
Does this mean that the government will stop telling kids in government schools that they are all gay or 1 or the 57 genders? Yay!
Pathetic that a church would think that the way to look after sick, misguided people hopelessly lost in sin’s snare is by suggesting that “they’re really ok” and it’s YOU has something wrong by thinking that there was a ‘cure’ for them.

One can only conclude that the gay community has far too much power over education and the ability to dictate what gender to choose. All of us can use our old “noodle” and quickly figure out just why that is.
They really want everyone to be gay because they hat the idea of the natural family. It makes people stronger and smarter and happier. In short, more independent and more of a threat.
