Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
In 1964, Bob Dylan released a song called "My Back Pages". In this song, he sings of his disillusion with the "folk protest movement" that tried to claim and control him as their own. In my opinion, the refrain "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" indicates that he is no longer cynical, angry, or a pawn of "The System", but is looking forward with youthful exuberance to a new future of individuality and creativity that is not bound to an agenda. (Of course, if Dylan ever got wind of my interpretation, he would probably deny it just to be cranky and contrary! LOL!)
The Book of Isaiah also has "His Back Pages". While the first 30 or so chapters are full of dire predictions of God's JUDGEMENT upon Israel and a large group of Gentile Nations that have had contact (usually hostile!) with Israel, right around the last half of the 30's, the Book changes course. Now remember, the original was not broken up into neat little chapters and verses, but the change is still quite obvious. Even so, when presented with one seamless scroll, some liberal scholars have attempted to divide the Book of Isaiah into more than one author. The "Back Pages" are THAT different. Jesus never differentiated between two "Isaiahs" when He quoted Scripture. I figure HE would know, so I am convinced that the entire Book was written by One Man, under the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
"Isaiah's Back Pages" contain a magnificent series called "The Servant Songs", of which "Isaiah 53" is the most famous. The Identity of "The Servant of the Lord" is, to Christians, The Messiah Jesus of Nazareth. Non-Christian scholars will tell us that it represents someone else, or a nation, or The Jewish People, or just an "Ideal".
But, just as I did with the "Two Isaiah's" controversy, I'll go with Jesus on this one too!

Numbers 6:23 Say to Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them, The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). And they shall put My name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them.
And this we do, proclaim and agree in Jesus name. Amen.
