Why is this character even a priest as he suggests The Bible just be ignored for his perception of what's good for society?

Wonder what liberal Catholics running the church would say if we all stopped using the bible as a guideline...Like,no more money for the poor..Bible is wrong,let the poor help themselves...Wonder how fast the money men in the church would tell us THAT PART OF THE BIBLE IS TRUE...HELP THE POOR.GIVE US YOUR MONEY....
