These churches better be careful whaat they ask for. The federal monster will use any excuse to sink its tentacles into churches. “You accepted federal relief money and are now preaching your hate speech about homosexuals and lesbians? I think not.”
In 2015, 45% of the people in this country paid no federal taxes and thus do not pay into the system. Should they also not qualify for support? I expect your answer will be yes it you are to stay consistent with the argument that churches should not get support because they are tax exempt.

When did flat out “grants” (welfare) start happening from FEMA? I thought disaster aid would come mostly in the form of low-interest loans? Also the federal government is the “insurer of last resort” for flood insurance (money loser with current rules [-$24 billion]...private insurers are all but out since 1968). Going to have to read the law/code references in the “relief bill” to get details I guess.

Recent article on the federal flood insurance program:

They should be eligible for grants because they are not tax exempt. They simply do not make enough money to be taxed, in other words they are poor. If their income increases then they will begin to be taxed. A tax exempt institution pays no taxes regardless of their income. As I have said earlier it would be fine to obtain a Government loan which they would pay back, with interest, but not a grant.
While churches do not pay taxes its member do, but churches who are consistent with that of the NT would not even ask help from the gov., for if it is of God then He will meets its needs, normally thru the members who are to support it. While something like surplus food from, businesses might be used and shared rather than it being wasted, churches need to be very wary of anything offered by the gov. and the strings it usually has.
Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. (3 John 6-8)
However, if the gov. decides to grant non -profits some relief or help then it should no makes ideological distinctions, such as excluding religion, while the definition of "non-profit" needs to be defined as requiring that most all of the funds (besides rent and such) received go toward the work they are supposed to be providing, versus administration with CEOs drawing hundreds of thousand of dollars in salary.
I would say the odds are pretty good, that the mosques will get millions of bucks.
