Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Those of you who know me will recognize this story, as I shared it on FR four years ago when it happened. I am NOT making this up.

My best friend Lil, had retired from the Mission Field, which took her to many countries, and she and I saved up and went to Hawaii together. While both of us were too old and fat to go ziplining or surfing, we DID decide to go up together in an open (doors off) helicopter over the erupting volcano. Strapped into the back seat, wind whipping around, we were thoroughly enjoying ourselves, when my friend had a massive seizure and died in my arms. I tried to do CPR, but we were strapped in and the doors were open on each side. It was really BAD. I contacted the pilot through my headset and we turned around and went back to Hilo, where the Hospital there put her on life support and airlifted her to Honolulu.

Meanwhile, I was stuck on the Big Island and had to do all the "business". As I sorted out her belongings, there was a little wrapped present addressed to me from a gift shop in Jerusalem. I opened it up...it was a tiny jar of "Temple Incense" made from the recipe in Exodus 30. I still have it, of course, but I have never ground any of it up or burned it. I keep it in memory of a great lady.

The anointing oil and incense recipes are restricted to use in the worship or the One True God. They were not to be used as perfume, air freshener, medicine, or skin care. There are plenty of other mixtures for all of those other purposes. Why would The One True God be concerned about us using these recipes for other purposes? Once again, this is to show the HOLINESS and SEPARATENESS of God. It is a gulf that nobody can bridge on their own.

Come and pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Sorry to learn of the turn of events during your holiday. However, how blessed was Lil to have lived a life, serving the Lord, then to celebrate with you during her last stop on the way HOME.
We just never know how God will arrange things.

Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:

And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy:

And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.

And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.

Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
