Lyle Jeffs, who was among 11 members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints indicted in what prosecutors have called a conspiracy to defraud a federal food stamp program, was captured late Wednesday in South Dakota.
Few details of the capture were immediately provided. An online log at the Minnehaha County, S.D., jail lists Jeffs as an inmate. He is being held without bond.
The FBI Field Office in Salt Lake City sent a tweet Thursday morning saying Jeffs was arrested in South Dakota about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The FLDS has a compound in South Dakota, though it is on the opposite side of the state — almost 400 miles away from where Jeffs was booked into jail.

When we are dealing with such hatred, violence and perversion as we are, do we have time to be concerned with polygamy? Does the guy beat his wifes? Or use them to qualify for welfare benefits?
At one point he had 9 wives at the same time.

So, not that I have thoroughly researched the matter, the issue is plain and simple polygamy. Not child or spousal abuse, or welfare abuse, or child labor per se.

I’m against that. And, there IS a lot of that going around. NBA players, Somalis. Lots of impregnators and impregnatees working the system. Deport the foreigners (the easy part) and take away the children of parents who cannot raise them (we won’t be able to do this any time soon, but this should be our goal).

I was just being sarcastic. The ATF used to fine gun dealerships for allowing gun buyers to abbreviate state names instead of spelling them out on their background check applications.
In making a the point the polygamy per se pales in significance compared to hatred and violence, I asked a question.The question implicitly acknowledged that matters sometimes connected to polygamy are important.
When you pointed out the location of the answer was to the question, I looked there. I said, bingo. acknowledging you point. Now you are trying to score another point. I, having demonstrated my fairness in assessing points, say no. My remark concerning quick research, pertained to the possibility of child abuse, which was brought up by third person, not to welfare abuse.
Now, as to reconciling the original reason the man was sought after (child labor), with the reason he was sought after while on the lamb (welfare abuse), possibly it’s because he couldn’t support his family while being a fugitive.
I’ll just say that welfare abuse complicates an appeal to the courts. If he allowed himself to be arrested on a child labor violation, he could have appealed the violation given recent changes in our understanding of people’s Constitutional rights to marry (equal protection). But, now with two violations, such an appeal becomes problematic.
Over the years, I have worked with people who have been victimized by the state. Men who have been treating very unfairly in support and custody cases. Tax resisters. Freedom of speech cases. My rule in these cases is only break one law at a time.
Was that in addition to requiring serial numbers on cartriges???

It was an awesome novel because the evil people got what was coming to them in the end.

Furthermore, Polygamy contributes to cultural fracturing and tribalization.
Ponder that in the context of both America’s Islam and the Middle East’s implementation.
