Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah

Isaiah 31

Woe to Those Who Rely on Egypt

31 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
    who rely on horses,
who trust in the multitude of their chariots
    and in the great strength of their horsemen,
but do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
    or seek help from the Lord.
2 Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster;
    he does not take back his words.
He will rise up against that wicked nation,
    against those who help evildoers.
3 But the Egyptians are mere mortals and not God;
    their horses are flesh and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
    those who help will stumble,
    those who are helped will fall;
    all will perish together.

4 This is what the Lord says to me:

“As a lion growls,
    a great lion over its prey—
and though a whole band of shepherds
    is called together against it,
it is not frightened by their shouts
    or disturbed by their clamor—
so the Lord Almighty will come down
    to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.
5 Like birds hovering overhead,
    the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem;
he will shield it and deliver it,
    he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”

6 Return, you Israelites, to the One you have so greatly revolted against. 7 For in that day every one of you will reject the idols of silver and gold your sinful hands have made.

8 “Assyria will fall by no human sword;
    a sword, not of mortals, will devour them.
They will flee before the sword
    and their young men will be put to forced labor.
9 Their stronghold will fall because of terror;
    at the sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic,”
declares the Lord,
    whose fire is in Zion,
    whose furnace is in Jerusalem.

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent Is Your Name Over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
Honor, Glory and Worship,
For Your Alone Are The One True God!
Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent,
Holy Righteous, and Just,
There is No One Like You!
Our Creator, and Creator of All That Is,
You Are The Great I Am,
And All Of Creation Vibrates With Singing of Your Glory!

Keep us In Your Tender Care, Oh Father,
Watch over us Night and Day,
Defeat The Lies and Calumny That are brought against Your People.
Bring all Slander and Libel To Naught.
Bring Their enemies to confusion and scatter them before You.

Father, preserve us from all evil;
Preserve our souls.
Dear LORD, preserve our going out and our coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Deliver Us from Evil, Oh LORD,
and keep us From Temptation, We pray.
We ask for Wisdom and Revival for Our Own Nation.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

A Famous Quote from President Ronald Reagan (may his memory be blessed!) is this wise saying:

"Trust, but VERIFY."

It is easy to become elated at the gracious and enthusiastic reception Our President Donald J. Trump is receiving right now in the Middle East. What is especially significant is the Dignity and Authority that is being projected for our Nation in contrast to...well, you know. (It's been a rough eight years!)

It is important to remember though, that culturally and politically, the accolades offered may be the result of a principle known as "Taqqiyah", which means, in essence, that "It's OK to lie if it advances the cause". This is a real principle within the culture of Islam, as I am sure Our President is aware.

Isaiah warns against this very type of thing in this Chapter. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the Glory of Exotic and Powerful Empires, and "look to them for help", without taking into account that NO HELP is given without an ulterior motive. The motive of Empires is to swallow others up, to change their culture and religion, and to subjugate the people. We have seen this in our own Century with the Two World Wars, The Cold War, and now the "Rise of the Caliphate". Please include Our President in your prayers, as he navigates this very treacherous ground.

History repeats itself as is evidenced by the regime changes in the Bible. . .and most were in the “evil” category. Today’s passage from ISAIAH was confirmation of PSALM 20 that I was led to post on the America Prayer Vigil Thread today. May PRESIDENT TRUMP not be swayed by pomp and circumstance and allegiances with countries of foreign gods. Only GOD can keep AMERICA and ISRAEL safe. Only HE can move in the hearts of the nations. GOD’S will be done on earth as it is in heaven. AMEN.
