Speaking as a parent of three Eagle Scouts, and having a best friend who worked as an editor for Boy's Life magazine and also having a friend who is still in Boy Scout headquarter's management, I can say that the Boy Scout's had carefully put into place checks to keep the boys safe. Such as, no adult could sleep in the same tent as a scout unless they were father and son. In a two-man tent the age difference between the two boys could not be more than two years apart. On every campout it was required that there be at least two adult leaders present. And other such rules.
For many years, the Boy Scouts had to deal with anti-God nuts, gays who wanted in, and girls who thought they were boys. They called it "The Three G's" and on one occasion my friend who worked at headquarters said that they found a guy who had broken into headquarters and was rifling through their files.
Boy Scouts was not run by gays, it was run by people who really loved scouting and who loved helping to instill godly characters traits into their young charges. I have personally been to various confabs where I got to see that true leadership. The homos who would slip in on accession were always dealt with.
