A pair of Tennessee rehab facilities run by members of the Church of Scientology have been shut down after police discovered that patients there were being held against their will.
The facilities in Cannon County came under investigation after police received a 911 call from a man who claimed to be trapped in one of the facilities. When they came to investigate, they found the man locked in a cabin with no way to escape.
The facilities were little more than a handful of cabins and a double wide trailer concealed in the middle of the wilderness. Police described the supposed path to wellness as "a gated, makeshift paddock secured externally with a steel latch."
The man who called 911 told police that he had been administered unknown drugs during his nine-month involuntary stay at the facility, and that he was provided with only a single bed with a tiny sheet and a small bathroom which was the "only room with a light."
Police found another "patient," a woman. Both imprisoned individuals were transported to a local hospital. Police also arrested Marc Vallieres, who operated the facilities, and his subordinates Dennis Flamond and Hans Snyder Lytle.
Vallieres has been charged with two felony counts of facilitation of kidnapping. Flamond and Lytle were charged with the misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment, to which they have pled guilty.
Attorney David Veile, who represents some of the suspects, said that the facility was not run by the Church of Scientology.

Where is Shelly Miscavige.....she’s being held prisoner somewhere.
IF she’s still alive.
If you ever want proof that a religion is a cult, it is this - forcible imprisonment for choosing to leave. They may talk about enlightenment and “the true way” when they recruit you but when the light clicks and you’ve decided you want out, they hold you against your will.
She is. She was spotted in a small town in CA near Hemet with a couple of holders, not looking well.
NOT defending Scientology here, but in pursuit of accuracy, this has been refuted by at least one source...
EDITORS NOTE: A previous version of this article stated that the facilities involved in the story were owned and operated by the Church of Scientology. That information was contained in an erroneous statement from the Cannon County Sheriffs Department. This article has been edited and amended to reflect that the facilities in question were in no way affiliated with the Church of Scientology. Global News regrets the error.
Bkmrk.
Awaiting comments from Tom.
With all the money that Scientology has scammed off of the Hollyweird elite these facilities should be on a private island in the Bahamas.
L. Ron Halfelven.
There was a special which documented the story of one of the women who was sent to their “rehab” center. The center was in the basement of a parking structure and she and her husband had to sleep on the concrete floor, separately, on a mattress, watching cars come and go, breathing the fumes.. She was 7 months pregnant and spent,if memory serves at least a month there. Then, after the child was born, they subjected her to 24/7 sessions to break her and keep her in the group. Ultimately she escaped through a window with her son, thinking she saw people coming after her. They finally had enough. Very tragic and that’s just her story. Others have also come forward. Sick.
Pretty sure that most people spotted the Church of Scientology thing as a phoney way back when it started. Of course, they aren’t the only one.
There is also a great book written by David Miscavige’s niece who escaped scientology. Her name is Jenna Miscavige Hill and the book is called Beyond Belief. It was a very interesting read.
“Nine month involuntary stay!”
Something very odd here. Well, I know it’s Scientology but still.

Anybody here want to bet Global news has been threatened and bought off?
And Greta Vansusteren.
Isn't that how rehab works? Don't they remove you from the source of your problem and restrict your activities?
You know it. They have “moles” everywhere, especially people involved in psychiatry.( Remember T. Cruise’s attack on Mat Lauer who defended women who use psychiatry for post partum depression?)
