Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah

Isaiah 13

A Prophecy Against Babylon

13 A prophecy against Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

2 Raise a banner on a bare hilltop,
    shout to them;
beckon to them
    to enter the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded those I prepared for battle;
    I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath—
    those who rejoice in my triumph.

4 Listen, a noise on the mountains,
    like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms,
    like nations massing together!
The Lord Almighty is mustering
    an army for war.
5 They come from faraway lands,
    from the ends of the heavens—
the Lord and the weapons of his wrath—
    to destroy the whole country.

6 Wail, for the day of the Lord is near;
    it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[a]
7 Because of this, all hands will go limp,
    every heart will melt with fear.
8 Terror will seize them,
    pain and anguish will grip them;
    they will writhe like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at each other,
    their faces aflame.

9 See, the day of the Lord is coming
    —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
    and destroy the sinners within it.
10 The stars of heaven and their constellations
    will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
    and the moon will not give its light.
11 I will punish the world for its evil,
    the wicked for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty
    and will humble the pride of the ruthless.
12 I will make people scarcer than pure gold,
    more rare than the gold of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;
    and the earth will shake from its place
at the wrath of the Lord Almighty,
    in the day of his burning anger.

14 Like a hunted gazelle,
    like sheep without a shepherd,
they will all return to their own people,
    they will flee to their native land.
15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
    all who are caught will fall by the sword.
16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
    their houses will be looted and their wives violated.

17 See, I will stir up against them the Medes,
    who do not care for silver
    and have no delight in gold.
18 Their bows will strike down the young men;
    they will have no mercy on infants,
    nor will they look with compassion on children.
19 Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms,
    the pride and glory of the Babylonians,[b]
will be overthrown by God
    like Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 She will never be inhabited
    or lived in through all generations;
there no nomads will pitch their tents,
    there no shepherds will rest their flocks.
21 But desert creatures will lie there,
    jackals will fill her houses;
there the owls will dwell,
    and there the wild goats will leap about.
22 Hyenas will inhabit her strongholds,
    jackals her luxurious palaces.
Her time is at hand,
    and her days will not be prolonged.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Beloved Father,
How Precious and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
Almighty and Eternal,
Glorious and Transcendent,
Rock of Ages,
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!

Thank You, LORD,
For these Tremendous Words From Your Prophet Isaiah,
Words That Instruct us.
Regarding Your Blessings upon the Righteous Nation,
And Your Perfect Peace that You Give to Those Who Trust In You.
Keep Our Minds Stayed Upon You, Oh LORD,
And let us Exalt Your Name Forever, Together!
For In Your Name Is Everlasting Strength,
And The Peace That passes Understanding
Which the World can not give.

Without You, any attempt to build our house,
or our Nation, is in vain.
For in You, Father, is our Provision,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.
We are nothing without You.
With This in Mind,
We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of our own Beloved USA,
that We Will Look to You for the Protection and
Prosperity of our Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In a previous chapter, we read how God sometimes uses nations more wicked than another to chastise and correct the People of the One True God. Everybody loves to live in a blessed state, but blessings will not continue if that people turns from God. We see it over and over again in history.

However, what seems to be the triumph of the wicked (and SO unfair!!!) is not the end of the story. The wicked may seem to prosper for a season, but they too are brought down eventually. And, while the People of God learn from their chastisement, and often experience revival as a result, the wicked nation that defied God and was used for the chastisement ends up being conquered by someone even more wicked than they were, and are then become a part or archaeological oddity somewhere in the desert.

Among Saddam Hussein's crimes(which were many, and too heinous to list here) he did what is considered in Archaeology to be an unpardonable sin. He attempted to rebuild the ruins of Babylon as a monument to HIMSELF. Now, it is not unusual for Archaeologists to rebuild an ancient ruin. But here is the difference: When rebuilding, it is an accepted rule to draw a clear line between the REAL ancient stones and the new construction. This preserves the past while clearly stating that the new part is a reconstruction based on speculation, and is not part of the original. Every "Tel" and "Dig" that I have visited in Israel follows this rule.

Saddam, however, was not interested in History, Science, or Truth. His goal was to build a new city in the form of the old one, as the capital of a new Babylonian Empire, with himself (of course!) as the King. Well we all know how that ended up.

What many people don't remember though, is that Saddam had a ten-year WAR with Iran years before the Invasion of Kuwait and U.S. involvement. Iran's real name is Persia, and it just so happened that it was the Medes and Persians that defeated the original Babylon centuries ago. Saddam's use of chemical and biological weapons against the "Persians" and the Kurdish minority were an international scandal at the time, and was one of the factors that led to the belief that Saddam was busy making other even more poisonous and powerful weapons.

That's all in the past now, but Iraq and Iran are STILL an unholy mess. The few Christians and even fewer Jews left in the region are under incredible stress, in the very towns mentioned in the Book of Isaiah. And Saddam's phony Babylon descends into ruin once again.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!
